World’s Best Workforce Plan

Lake Park Audubon ISD 2889

2016-2017

“World’s Best Workforce” legislation is intended to address the findings cited in MS 120B.10 Findings; Improving Instruction and Curriculum. The legislature finds that a process is needed to enable school boards and communities to decide matters related to planning, providing, and improving education instruction and curriculum in the context of the state's high school graduation standards. The process should help districts evaluate the impact of instruction and curriculum on students' abilities to meet graduation standards, use evaluation results to improve instruction and curriculum, and determine services that districts and other public education entities can provide collaboratively with institutions including families and private or public organizations and agencies. The legislature anticipates that a highly focused public education strategy will be an integral part of each district's review and improvement of instruction and curriculum.”

The World’s Best Workforce bill was passed in 2013 to ensure every school district in the state is making strides to increase student performance. Each district must develop a plan that addresses the following five goals:

  1. All children are ready for school.
  2. All third-graders can read at grade level.
  3. All racial and economic achievement gaps between students are closed.
  4. All students are ready for career and college.
  5. All students graduate from high school.

Elementary Goals:

Elementary Reading Goal: The Lake Park Audubon Elementary School will increase the school-wide proficiency rate in reading as measured by the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments from 63.3% proficient in the spring of 2016 to 66.5% proficient in the spring of 2017.

Elementary Math Goal: The Lake Park Audubon Elementary School will increase the school-wide proficiency rate in math as measured by the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments from 63.6% proficient in the spring of 2016 to 67% proficient in the spring of 2017.

High School Goals

Improve MCA III Reading scores for all students from 56.6% proficient to 60% proficient for all students.

Improve MCA III Math scores for all students from 57.4% proficient to 61% proficient for all students.
