Revision of Pay under Sustaining Progress – June 2006 - TRBDI

I refer to the application in the education sector of a pay increase of 2.5% under Section 14.2 of the Mid-Term Review of Part Two of Sustaining Progress – Pay and the Workplace, with effect from 1 June 2006. Sanction is hereby conveyed for the implementation of the attached revised salary scales for grades of staff employed in TRBDI.

The payment of the increase is dependent on verification of co-operation with flexibility and ongoing change, satisfactory implementation of the agenda for modernisation, maintenance of stable industrial relations and absence of industrial action in respect of any matters covered by the Sustaining Progress Agreement. The Education Sector Performance Verification Group in consultation with the Secretary General of this Department has decided that the level of progress achieved during the period warrants the payment of the relevant increase.

Please note that this sanction does not apply to those grades comprehended by the Parallel Benchmarking Agreement.

Revision of Pay

Subject to the provisions of this sanction, an increase of 2.5% due under Section 14.2 of Mid-Term Review of Part Two of Sustaining Progress, is being applied with effect from 1 June 2006 to the basic pay of the grades listed in the attached salary scales in accordance with the terms of Sustaining Progress.

The increases due are being added to basic pay as at 31 May 2006. The increase is being added to each point of incremental scales (and to off-scale points), rounding to the nearest euro on annual scales and to the nearest cent on weekly scales. Hourly rates should be rounded to the nearest €0.001.

Allowances

Allowances in the nature of pay payable for staff to whom this minute applies may be increased by 2.5% with effect from 1 June 2006.

Children's allowances, both standard and ex-gratia, should be maintained at €111.

Part-time Staff

The pay of part-time staff may be revised, in accordance with normal arrangements, by reference to the pay of wholetime staff to which they are related for pay purposes.

General

Sanction is hereby given to apply the increase of 2.5% due under Section 14.2 of Mid-Term Review of Part Two of Sustaining Progress to the categories of staff listed in the attached salary scales.

Sanction is hereby given to apply the increase of 2.5% due under Section 14.2 of Mid-Term Review of Part Two of Sustaining Progress to the categories of staff that normally obtain increases under the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector.

Deductions from pay which are expressed as a percentage of pay (e.g. income continuance plans, union subscriptions, Third World Fund contributions etc.) fall to be recalculated as a result of the increases provided for in this sanction.

Pensions

A separate sanction will issue from the Superannuation Section of this Department in relation to the adjustments to apply to pensions.
