NEW FOR 2017 – Any competitor entering the tetrathlon may choose to ride the xc course the next size down from their class. They will remain in the same class, but will incur a 500 point penalty. Please make your xc course size clear on your entry form. (If in doubt, please ask)
Ages as at 1st January 2017competitors must be over 8 years of age on day of competition to shoot
* Class 8 will ride over a very small course & can have assistance or be led with no penalty
* Class 7 will ride over asmallcourse under 65’cm but competitors are NOT allowed assistance.
* Class 5 & 6 will ride over the minimus course max 75cm.
Clear round –the small course will be openfor clear round after classes 8 & 9. £5.00 a round on field
TEAMS: Tri and/or Tet teams of four competitors (3 to count) chosen from ANY of classes 1-9 but all teams must be from the same club. Teams to be declared with entry and no alterations/substitutions after submission other than where a competitor withdraws through injury/illness.
ROSETTES: Individual, mixed teams to 6th place and best of phase rosettes. Trophies for some classes.

RULES
The competition will be run under Pony Club Tetrathlon Rules 2017 with the following exceptions:
1.Class 7 – Riding will be over a separate small course and over a much shorter distance but competitors must not be assisted.
2.Class 8 - Riding will be over a very small course and competitors can be led or have assistance with no penalty.This is for under 12's who really need assistance. However competitors must be over 8 years on the day.
3.The riding phase will be timed for classes 1-4, but not for classes 5 - 8. The gate & slip rail will be timed for all classes according to tetrathlon rules.
4.Classes 5 - 8 , Shooting from 7 metres at static targets,both hands allowed.
5.The judges decision is final.
Neither the organisers, nor any person acting on their behalf, accept any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, vehicles, their contents and accessories, or any other person or property whatsoever, whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract or in any other way whatsoever. The organiser of this event has taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the organiser and all the Officials and Stewards.
NOTES
Order of event Day 1 – Intermediates shoot, and run first, followed by juniors then minis. The biathletes will swim first, followed by the minis, juniors and then the intermediates.
Day 2 – Course for classes 1 to 7 starts at 10:00 hours and class 1 will ride first.
Course for classes 7 and 8 also starts at 10:00 hours and class 8 will ride first.
Swimmingwill be in a well heated outdoor swimming pool. The pool is always very warm, even though we cannot have the pool until 17:00
RidingClasses7 & 8 have been introduced to encourage competitors to take part who would find the riding phase too difficult in their normal age group, and will therefore be able to compete over a less demanding riding course.

Directions to South Dartmoor College
Approaching from either north or south along A38. Exit at Lynhay junction – signposted Ashburton. Take A3352 towards Ashburton town centre. Turn into Balland Lane, South Dartmoor Community College is approximately 1km on left.
Directions to Bovey Tracey Swimming Pool
Return to the A38 and head towards Exeter. Exit at Drumbridges, roundabout and head towards Bovey Tracey on the A382. Take the third exit at the roundabout just beyond the Co-Operative fuel station. Continue along Newton Road for approximately half a mile and turn left into Ashburton Road at the church. The pool entrance is on the left after approximately 350 metres.
