JOB DESCRIPTION No Limits

Post / Healthy Living Champion
RESPONSIBLE TO / Project Manager, Service Manager, Operations Manager and Deputy CEO
GRADE / NJC 20-25 £19,430 – £22,658 pro rata
HOURS OF WORK / 25 hrs per week occasional evenings and weekends
PURPOSE OF POST / To coordinate and deliver healthy living advice, information and support to young people aged 18-25 years focused around smoking cessation, healthy weight and reducing alcohol consumption working on positive behaviour change. This will include assessment, referral and undertaking interventions through one to onesand groups.
Work Base / No Limits

Healthy Living champion

  • To hold a case load and deliver groups sessions to young people on range of healthy behaviours such as emotional health, self-esteem, Smoking cessation, healthy eating/weight, wellbeing, alcohol consumption and other lifestyle related matters.
  • To lead and deliver healthy living initiatives to meet the needs of the young person and support onward refers to other specialist services.
  • Provide quality up to date information, advice and support which supports young people’s physical and emotional health, personal and social development and promotes healthy across Southampton City.
  • To promote the involvement of young people in planning, delivery and evaluation of services.
  • To maintain effective communication and partnership working with Southampton Health Living (SHL) partners and affiliates namely Solent NHS trust, Social Care in Action (SCA) and Southampton Voluntary Services (SVS).

• Ensure that delivery points are accessible, resourced, tidy and welcoming for young people.

  • Offer expert information and advice and support to young people in a variety of settings/environments as required to meet the aims of the service.
  • To represent No Limits at meetings and at community events when required.
  • To work with the Service Manager and Project Manager, in developing No Limits services.
  • To assist the Service Manager and Project Managerin the on-going training, support and supervision, of the current volunteers & students.
  • To ensure quality of service and maintain records to the required project standards, maintain client files to a high standard and preserve confidentiality.
  • To keep up to date on issues that affect young people e.g. changes in government policy and local practice.

Finance / Administration:

  • To contribute to the monitoring and development of the service by ensuring that service user’s records are completed and handed in on time, statistical data and financial information is maintained and quality assured.
  • To record hours and expenses accurately and submit in a timely manner.

Policy and procedures

  • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults and ensure all staff and volunteers share this commitment.
  • Demonstrate work practice that encompasses an appreciation and awareness of No Limits policies and procedures and ensure all staff adhere to these practices.
  • To be aware of and demonstrate your responsibility under No Limits Health and Safety Policy, and report hazards to the appropriate person.

Young people

  • To act as an advocate for young peopleand refer them on to other relevant agencies and services, as appropriate, to ensure their needs are appropriately met.
  • Provide quality up to date information, advice and support which supports young people’s personal and social development and promotes healthy lifestyles.
  • To promote the involvement of young people in planning, delivery and evaluation of services.

General

  • Assist the CEO to maintain and develop the services offered by No Limits.
  • To liaise and network with relevant agencies / organisations, ensuring that the needs of young people are met and good practice and/or resources are shared, adding to the development of the service.
  • To attend training and meetings as required and attendand participate in regular supervision.
  • Undertake other duties as required by No Limits.
  • You will need to be able to transport yourself within the city as part of this role.
