Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach UnitAssessment Plan
1. List the OBJECTIVES of the program.
The Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach Unit will
implement the tenets of Ohio CORE legislation at Wright State University (WSU) which include:
- develop and implementdual enrollment opportunities consistent with the needs of participating school districts and the resources of WSU
- increase the number of students participating in the Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) programat WSU and to integrate PSEO students into the first year experience at WSU(working with appropriate others)
- generate data on placement, subsequent academic performance, and student persistence and share that data with participating school districts on an ongoing basis
- administer placement testing in the high schools and address remediation needs via SASC (working with University College Assistant Dean of Student Academic Success Center (SASC) and Coordinator of Testing)
serve as one of WSU’s liaisons with PK-12 school districts and regional higher educational partners
establish WSU as a responsive leader to Ohio CORE directives
2. Explain how the department or program will know the extent to which OBJECTIVES are achieved (alumni or other surveys, employment data, etc.).
To monitor its success in achieving these objectives, the Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach Unit will monitor
monitor program feedback and evaluations completed by school district personnel, higher education partners, and WSU representatives; as well as students, parents, and program staff
compare each year’s data with the previous year’s
3. List the LEARNING OUTCOMES of the program.

Direct Measure: Institutional data showing number of students enrolled in and successfully completing the WSU’s Dual Enrollment Program (DEP)

Direct Measure: Institutional data showing the number of schools and school districts participating in WSU’s DEP and PSEO programs
Direct Measure: Institutional data showing number of students placing into developmental English and mathematics from the schools and school districts participating in WSU’s DEP and PSEO programs
Direct Measure: Institutional data showing enrollment numbers, retention, and graduation rates of students from the schools and school districts participating in WSU’s DEP and PSEO programs
5. Describe how learning outcomes are made MEASURABLE and BENCHMARKS or other determinants of success are set.
The following institutional data will be used to establish benchmarks and measure progress toward achieving the desired program outcomes:
Numbers of students enrolled and successfully completing the WSU Dual Enrollment Program (DEP)
- Use the inaugural 2008-09 DEP student enrollment and student completion numbers to establish benchmark, then increase each data point by 2% annually.
Numbers of schools and school districts participating in WSU Dual Enrollment Program
- Establish the number of schools and school districts participating in DEP during 2008-09,then increase the number by 2% annually.
Numbers of students enrolled and successfully completing the WSU PSEOprogram.
- Establish PSEO student enrollment and student completion numbers in 2008-09, then increase each data point by 1% annually.
Numbers of schools and school districts participating in WSU’s PSEO program
- Establish numbers of schools and school districts participating in PSEO in 2008-09, then increase each data point by 1% annually.
Numbers of students placing into developmental English and mathematics from the schools and school districts participating in WSU’s DEP and PSEO programs
- Establish numbers of students placing into developmental English and mathematics from the schools and school districts participating in WSU’s DEP and PSEO in 2008-09, then decrease the numbers for each data point by 1% annually.
6. Describe the process by which FINDINGS will be derived from the measures.
Data will be collected and summarized by the Coordinator of Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach and reported to the Senior Vice President for Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, the data will be shared with appropriate other participants in the Wright State University Ohio CORE and PK-12 initiatives.
7. Describe the process by which findings are analyzed to determine what IMPROVEMENTS should be made to better meet objectives and learning outcomes.
Information gathered from institutional data and participants of the programs and initiatives will be reviewed by the Ohio CORE and PK-12 staff which will recommend modifications to the programs/initiatives.
The Coordinator of Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach will share recommendations for improvements and program modifications with the Senior Vice President for Curriculum and Instruction.
8. Identify a TIMETABLE for assessment.
Each summer, information gathered from institutional data and program evaluations will be used to assess the overall program quality and improve program operations for the subsequent year.
9. Briefly explain how the program’s assessment plan supports and interacts with ACCREDITATION and LICENSURE requirements (if applicable).

10. Describe how the objectives and learning outcomes of the program are COMMUNICATED to students and others.
The Coordinator of Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach will communicate the unit’s objectives through presentations at meetings, conferences and workshops, in addition to dialogues with school districts, superintendents, principals and other institutional partners.
The Ohio CORE and PK-12 Outreach staff will work with the WSU Office of Communications and Marketing to promote and publicize our programs, initiatives and objectives.
