TheResicaElementarySchoolagreestoimplementthefollowing:

• Theschoolwillputintooperationprograms,activitiesandproceduresfortheinvolvementofparentsinthe TitleI,PartAprogram.Theseprograms,activitiesandprocedureswillbeplanned,operated,andreviewed onanannualbasis;withmeaningfulconsultationwithparents.Concerns/complaintswillbedirecttothe TitleIDirector.

•Theschoolwillhaveanannualmeetingtoinformparentsoftheschool’sparticipationinTitleI,toexplain therequirementsoftheprogramandtoinformparentsoftheirrighttobeinvolved.

• TheschoolwillprovideparentswithtimelyinformationabouttheTitleIprogram.

Progresswillbereportedthroughconferencesandreportcardcomments.

• Parentmeetings,includingparentconferences,willbeheldatleasttwiceannually(Novemberandagainin February).Differenttimesduringthedayandeveningwillbeofferedtoaccommodateparents’schedules. ParentsmayrequestadditionaltimestomeetwiththeTitleIteachersand/ortheTitleIDirector.

• Theschoolwilldevelopschool-parentcompactsannuallyandthiswillbesharedwithparentsduring thefirstmarkingperiod.

• Theschoolwillidentifybarrierstogreaterparticipationbyparents(withparticularattentiontoparentswho areeconomicallydisadvantaged, aredisabled,havelimitedEnglishproficiency,havelimitedliteracy,orare ofanyracialorethnicminoritybackground).Theschoolwillusethefindingsoftheevaluationaboutits parentalinvolvementpolicyandactivitiestodesignstrategiesformoreeffectiveparentalinvolvement,andtorevise,ifnecessary(andwiththeinvolvementofparents)itsparentalinvolvementpolicies.

• TitleIfundsmaybeusedtopayreasonableandnecessaryexpensesassociatedwithparentinvolvement activities,toenableparentstoparticipateinschool-relatedmeetingsandtrainingsessions.

• Theschoolwillprovidematerialsandtrainingtohelpparentsworkwiththeirchildrentoimprovetheir children’sacademicachievement.Inadditiontoinformationsenthomethroughouttheschoolyear, additionalnewslettersandwebsitesforactivitiescanbefoundunderthe“Parent”and“Student”linkson theschoolwebsites.Activitiesforsummerreadingwillbedistributedattheendoftheschoolyear.

• Theschoolwill,totheextentfeasibleandappropriate,coordinateandintegrateparentalinvolvement programsandactivitieswithHeadStartandinviteparentsofexistingstudentswithpreschoolage siblingstoparticipateinthefollowingprograms:Kinderversity,TeachMeToReadAtHome,andQuick Start.

• Theschoolwillensurethatinformationissenttoparentsinanunderstandableformatand,totheextent practicable,inalanguagetheparentscanunderstand.

• Theschoolwillprovideassistancetoparentsinunderstandingtopicssuchasthefollowing:

oPAAcademicStandards

oPSSA(PennsylvaniaSystemofSchoolAssessment)

oDynamicIndicatorsofEarlyLiteracySkills(DIBELS)

oDistrictAssessments

oTherequirementsofTitleI

oHowtomonitortheirchildren’sprogress

oHowtoworkinpartnershipwiththeschool

oUnderstandingthereadingprocess

• Theschoolwillconductanannualevaluationofthecontentandeffectivenessofthisparentinvolvement policyviaaparentsurvey.

• AdditionalinformationabouttheTitleIprogramwillbepostedonthedistrictwebsite.
