Job Title: Gardener
Job purpose:To deliver cost effective garden maintenance and garden clearances.
Accountable to:Area Home Support Team Leader
Responsible for:The delivery of gardening services in Warwickshire
Main duties:
- Have a friendly, but professional approach to work and encourage good relationships between all those involved with clients.
- Act with patience and compassion towards all clients, and provide a very high quality and personable service.
- Liaise with the Team Leader and Care Admin team on availability, visit schedules and completed works to ensure data is updated and maintenance of accurate records for invoicing clients and staff payroll purposes.
- Visit clients and undertake the work required with reference to the wishes of the client. To ensure all works carried out are in line with best horticultural and Health & Safety practices.
- Consider the safety of the client at all times when working in the client’s garden.
- Ensure all chemicals are used in line with the C.O.S.H guidelines and are applied in line with the manufacturer’s instructions and that following the application of any chemicals the application log book is correctly completed
- Complete visit record for all works, detailing work carried out; materials used and time taken to a high degree of accuracy.
- Identify other areas of help available to the client and make appropriate referrals both internally with Age UK Warwickshire and also to external agencies.
- Ensure equipment provided by AUKW is maintained, serviced and PAT tested as appropriate.
- Participate in promoting and publicising the Care Services in Warwickshire.
- Keep up to date with new developments and current issues and to attend relevant courses and seminars, and identify training requirements.
- Carry out such duties as may be required by the Team Leader, Care Admin Team andChief Executive that are considered consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the post.
All staff have an individual responsibility to comply with the organisation’s policies and practices on all Health & Safety issues. Staff must report any incidents or ‘near miss’ to the responsible officer.
