Pre-Algebra / Learners will review all SPI’s to be tested on TCAP such as understanding of the real number system to include irrational numbers. Solve problems involving exponents and scientific notation using technology appropriately. Solve real-world problems using rational and irrational numbers. Derive the Pythagorean theorem and understand its applications. Understand the relationships among the angles formed by parallel lines cut by transversals. Understand the necessary levels of accuracy and precision in measurement. Understand both metric and customary units of measurement. Use visualization to describe or identify intersections, cross section. Explore probabilities for compound, independent and/or dependent events. Select, create, and use appropriate graphical representations of data (including scatter plots with lines of best fit) to make and test conjectures. Evaluate the use of statistics in media reports. Understand and apply properties in order to perform operations with, evaluate, simplify, and factor expressions and polynomials.

Science / Science will cover topic such as:natural forces, gravity, Students will review over flow of matter, heredity, which will cover genes, DNA, chromosomes, punnett squares, traits, and forms of reproduction. Will also review reproduction in flowering plants, concepts of the earth which encompasses minerals, rocks, tectonic plates, and resources. Students will also review the six simple machines and solve equations that calculate work, speed, velocity, distance, and time. Question and Response (participation) / Please encourage your child to study for science TCAP test for 30 minutes every night, as well as utilize “Study Island’s” web site.
Homework will primarily come from the Holt Science and Technology Interactive Reader and Study Guide.
Social Studies / Students will be reviewing all material taught in order to prepare for TCAP. Students will be covering the Civil War and Reconstruction.
