Opportunity Description:The College Counseling Director will lead a team of dedicated and experienced college counselors who aid students and their families in the college transition. Along with the other college counselors, the director will educate families about various colleges and universities, the college admissions process, admissions trends, office procedures, and standardized testing options. Duties include advising and supporting a caseload of students as they proceed through the college process and helping students and families aspire realistically and to choose a college fit wisely. The director will work closely with college representatives and will visit college campuses to establish and maintain strong relationships with college admission staffs. A Bachelor¿s degree, and a minimum of 3-5 years college admissions and/or college counseling experience are required. A master¿s degree and professional leadership experience are preferred. The successful candidate will possess a sophisticated and current understanding of selective college admissions and financial aid. An existing relationship with professional organizations like NACAC, TACAC, and the JHSCCA is preferred. Working knowledge of Naviance, the Common Application, ApplyTexas, and standardized testing programs including ACT, SAT, PSAT, and AP, is also an asset. Excellent counseling, writing, and communication skills are absolutely essential, as is an enthusiastic commitment to school life and to the unique mission of Strake Jesuit.
