At NYU Washington Square Park

First Girl – president’ sexton’s no one had confidence in him

Always up for expanding a university as long as its not hurting the community its in – if there’s this much negative backlash NYU has the responsibility to community of new york to open the communication up - great benefits to extending a university, but lose a sense of community – harder to feel – losing school spirit

Second Guy – Not much of a problem with it – expanding mostly in areas that will benefit the neighborhood. Better if it’s less concentrated than overwhelmingly take over this neighborhood

Third Guy/Fourth Girl- Want to be localized if you’re a college – interactions with students. Opinion depends what they’re putting on the different things. Very insular in department. Doesn’t effect my experience of NYU. Making some jobs.

Fifth Girl – 2031 year they hope to finish – opposed – overcrowded – uncalled for big buildings – a lot of foot traffic – wants to make this their campus – go elsewhere – other places want NYU – they could go elsewhere – people are very much opposed to it – businesses people who live their – not wanted by so many groups but they’re not pursuing it. I’m not opposed to them going anywhere, I’m opposed to them staying here. In NY everything is convenient I don’t think it has to make it more crowded

-Start with her because she explains 2031

Sixth Woman – I’m against it – I’m a longtime village resident and this is a neighborhood not a university – don’t need to take over parks, gardens, playgrounds, build up skyscrapers which is not uniform with the rest of the architecture

Seventh Girl – Great idea, need more space, expanding school. Other schools have a lot more space at the end of the day it is a university . I get offended when people say we don’t have a sense of community at the end of the day you’re going to meet your friends, its not like all of NYU knows each other anyways. Increases number of jobs, good for new freshmen

Eighth – I understand why any school would want to expand, I also understand why community. I live around here and I feel like NYU is pretty big to expand. I love college students I think its awesome

Last 39 seconds – 25 then 10-5

Ninth Man- Wasn’t too happy about it – parks been here for years – they should stay where it is.

Tenth Guy – They have the infrastructure, can’t get anywhere without an education 26 – 40 seconds

1:18 – 1:36 There has to be an even line that the people disbanded are relocated or properly compensated

1:37-1:47 Community should be involved and informed

Eleventh Woman- Graduate student, long-time resident of the neighborhood. Some classes nicer to have more space, but I wouldn’t say that it’s been negative either – Neutral

At NYU Medical Center

12/13 Women – 3:20 good & bad, near my building there’s a lot of construction and it’s really been bothering all of us wake up at 6 or 7 am really disruptive to students’ 3:50

4 min – 4:15 Also a good thing because limited space, hopefully they’re doing it more for the students than anything else

4:26 I tend to think that its more positive than negative resources a little limited

Certain advantages to spreading campuses, giving students resrouces

5:02 – attract more students Brining people to the city good for economic purposes 5:23–5:29 more + than – think its great for NYU to be venturing into other worlds

Fourteenth Man – More people bring more services. This is the new location, bring more people, people come on this way increase more walking, more business for people.
