Urban Sustainability Management: NQF Level 8, 12 credits

Level, Credits and Learning Modules Assigned to the Qualification

The professional course on Urban Sustainable management offers a consortium of advanced modules at NQF level 8covering 12 credits. The course seeks to plug the gaps in planning and urban management by providing the knowledge and skills to professionals from a variety of disciplines within the urban and regional as well as built environment disciplines.The course comes in twelve modules, namely:

1.Module 1: Principles and Practices for smart and sustainable cities development

2.Module 2: Land identification and acquisition processes

3.Module 3: Land Use planning and management principles and practices

4.Module 4: Spatial planning and development frameworks

5.Module 5: Urban macro-economic development and management principles

6.Module 6: Local economic development and entrepreneurial management

7.Module 7: Urban financial and economic resources management

8.Module 8: Urban environmental management and application of GIS tools

9.Module 9: Urban service planning and delivery management

10.Module 10: Urban infrastructure planning and management

11.Module 11: Urban social infrastructure planning and management

12.Module 12: Urban utilities and facilities planning and management

Who is the course designed for?

Any holder of aNQF 7 or 8 qualification in any relevant Built Environment field, such as town and regional planning, architecture, quantity surveying and construction, civil engineering, building sciences, real estate and valuation and those aspiring to join the field; to further their understanding, refine their skills and build their competence in planning, designing, developing and managing the physical, social, economic, environmental and institutional aspects of urban areas so that they contribute to the well-being of cities and make them sustainable. Completion of the Master of Sustainable Urban Planning and development meets the minimum entry requirements for admission into any Master’s degree of Urban and Regional Planning.
