Welcome to 7th GradeMedieval World History!

Welcome to the 2016-2017 School Year! This is going to be a jam-packed year filled with fun activities, exciting projects and lots of learning. I am looking forward to getting the school year started and making it the best year yet!

We will be learning about many medieval civilizations that existed all over the world! We will start with Europe, continue to Islam, then on to West Africa, China, Japan, the Americas and the Modern Age. When we start exploring these civilizations, we will delve into some very exciting projects. Get ready to be creative and have a ton of fun.

I know there will be a lot of questions about the classroom procedures and I will do my best to clarify.

  • We will be following the California State Content Standards for Social Studies.
  • Our textbook is History Alive! The Medieval World and Beyond.
  • Daily required materials include this textbook, your history composition notebook, pens/pencils, notebook paper and a personal reading book.
  • Suggested but not required materials include colored pencils, highlighters, a mini stapler, and a personal sharpener.
  • Classroom donations that would be greatly appreciated throughout the year include books for our classroom library, baby wipes and tissues.
  • The grades are earned based on a total point system. Each assignment is worth a stated number of points and final grades are based on the percentage of these points accumulated.
  • No late work is accepted unless you are absent. Make-up work is picked up when you return from missing class. You have the same number of days to make-up the work as you were absent.
  • Early on we will have a class discussion about quality work and what it means to be putting forth our best effort at all times.
  • My after school tutoring time will be from 3:25-3:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Class rules are

  • Be in your seat when the bell rings
  • Treat others with respect
  • Follow directions
  • Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself
  • No food, drink or gum
  • Talk at appropriate times
  • Be prepared with supplies

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask! I know this is going to be a great year!
