Laboratory Safety Rules
1) Enter the room quietly & sit in your assigned seat
2) Listen quietly to all directions. Ask questions if you are unsure. Reread the lab procedure before starting the lab.
3) Stay in your seat unless you are directed to get up. NO HORSEPLAY: pushing, poking, running
4) Follow the directions in the lab report. Ask your teacher before you try a “new idea.”
5) Never eat or drink in the lab. THIS INCLUDES GUM!
6) Avoid inhaling fumes, tasting, touching, or smelling any chemical UNLESS SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY TEACHER.
7) Use sharp & fragile tools with care, precisely following directions given by teacher.
8) Notify teacher immediately if a spill or accident occurs. Clean up as directed.
9) Never use broken or chipped glassware.
10) Always wear goggles unless directed otherwise.
11) Use equipment with care so that the students after you have the same opportunity to learn.
12) Know the location of the safety equipment & how to use it.
13) Ask teacher before disposing of chemicals.
14) Clean up your lab area before you leave, returning equipment to its proper place.
15) Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.
