Children will gather at the picnic tables outside the Mt. Sylvan Community Garden each week for 2 hours of planting, tending, Bible stories, singing, praying, and craft activities. Each week we will share a snack together, provided by a parent volunteer. Preschool children can be returned to their Mt. Sylvan preschool classroom upon completion of the garden program, but we do ask that all parents drop their child with the garden volunteers between 8:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. This allows us to get to know our parents, share garden information, and eliminate early morning confusion for our wonderful volunteers. Registration is limited to the first 15 children for each program.

PUTTING ON OUR GARDEN ARMOR
In today’s world, it is important for kids to know that God loves them and that they can depend on Him for protection, guidance and comfort. The Creator of all things provides ways to protect us and helps us to be confident and strong gardeners. As we prepare ourselves for the garden, we also must prepare ourselves to armor up each day by reading the Bible, knowing and telling the truth, thinking of ways to do good things, talking to others about God, “shooing away” bad thoughts, talking to God through our prayers.
Each week we will be learning about a piece of armor as we grow and tend our very own garden.
Seeds from God – The Bible is God’s word (Bible verses are like seeds)
Garden Belt of Truth – Always tell the truth (Freeing up your mind and your hands)
Breastplate of Doing What is Right – Protect your heart and always do good and right things to honor God (Working hard is a good thing)
Garden Boots of Peace - Walk the walk and Talk the talk (Tell others about God and grow His love)
Shielding Ourselves in the Garden – God always protects us (Shooing away bad bugs)
Garden Hats - Think good thoughts (weeds choke out good growth)
