4-H Records: Win, Win As Much As You Can! (Shannon McCollum, Buddy Bryson, Aggie Rogers)
Are you interested in Survivor? Do you trust the people around you? Come learn more about how you can work as a team and how we work as individuals in the hit game SIN AS MUCH AS YOU CAN!!! The major focus of this workshop will be preparing youth for their 4-H record keeping experience. Records are an important part of everyday life, and record keeping is a critical lifeskill. This session will focus on the nuts and bolts of the entire 4-H record keeping process.
Magic of Electricity: A to Z’s and One, Two, Threes (Jackie Helton & Grant Ellington)
Participants will enjoy hands-on experiential learning of every activity from the Magic of Electricity curriculum using the newly developed curriculum kit. Come practice the lessons and ask those content questions of the electric program specialist. Also learn how to help your club members apply what they learn from the curriculum to the rest of the 4-H electric program so they can reap the full benefits of one of North Carolina 4-H’s best programs!
Parenting Matters (M. Jean Baldwin, Ph.D.)
The Parenting Matters curriculum will be introduced for use with parents of 4-H’ers. Initially developed for referred and mandated parents, the goal of Parenting Matters is to increase the use of positive parenting practices among participating parents. Parenting Matters was developed using the Experiential Learning Model and the National Extension Parent Education Model. Parents actively participate in learning activities, reflect back on what was done, then analyze and connect the learning activities to real-life situations.
What Can Green Do 4 U? (Gloria Warren, Ph.D.)
Participants will learn skills and best practices/strategies for working with youth in grades K-3. Also includes understanding the impact of culture, community and family life on youth outcomes. Interactive activities and how-to work will focus on life skills, academic achievement and healthy lifestyles.
Winning Ways with Healthy Lifestyles (Carolyn Rudd and Renee Jordan)
Getting our young people up and moving, encouraging them to eat healthier snacks, educating kids about the dangers of sedentary lifestyles ---- all very important but also a little intimidating!! This session will get participants actively engaged in learning about creative ways to incorporate movement and healthy lifestyle choices into the club meeting agenda. A variety of curricula and lots of fun will definitely be involved as we focus on creating healthy futures for all North Carolinians!
