Ohio’s Clean Diesel School Bus Fund
Awarded Grants, April 2009
During the Spring, 2009 grant cycle, Ohio EPA awarded 15 grants to school districts, for a total of $1,271,670.06. These grants will retrofit pollution control technology on 337 buses, and achieve an estimated annual emission reduction of 780.2 pounds of particulates, 7,423.5 pounds of carbon monoxide, and 2,802.8 pounds of hydrocarbons. These grants are funded through a combination of civil penalties collected by Ohio EPA for violations of Ohio’s air pollution control laws, a federal grant from US EPA under the Diesel Emission Reduction Act, and American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds awarded by US EPA to the state for diesel emission reduction projects.
