3.Delegation / The Advisory Group Committee will address the broad range of environmental management functions and issues that impact on local government.
4.Scope / The key purpose of the Advisory Group Committee will be to advise the MAV on environmental issues impacting on local governments and to assist the MAV to carry forward key environment policy.

- Councillor Responsible For Sustainability,Transport, Climate Change and Water
- Councillors are appointed annually at the Ceremonial Council Meeting.
- Council representatives from both metropolitan and regional Victoria:
6.Current or anticipated role of staff member /
- To inform the MAV of councils’ positions, environmental issues and strategies identified in each region
- To facilitate consultation with regional groupings of councils on current statewide environmental issues
- To participate in the formulation of MAV statewide environmental policy positions
- To attend intergovernmental deputations on behalf of the MAV where appropriate.
- To undertake intersectoral liaison with other peak bodies.
- To act as a conduit and report back to councils in their region on issues raised at the Advisory Group.
7.Meeting frequency / As required
8.Timeline for involvement / The Advisory Group Committee shall sunset 2 years after the incorporation of this provision (October 2006). At that time a report will be presented to the MAV Board of Management detailing progress, achievements and ongoing relevance and the Board will determine whether it should continue.
9.Accountability of committee and committee members / The Terms of Reference of the Advisory Group Committee will be reviewed annually by the MAV Board of Management, in conjunction with the Advisory Group Committee through the Chair.
10.Reporting requirement / Minutes and outcomes from meetings of the Advisory Group Committee will be reported to the MAV Board of Management by the Chair.
11.Any other relevant information / Secretariat functions to the Advisory Group – MAV.
All member councils to be regularly circularised regarding the activities of the Advisory Group Committee and online communication to be progressively expanded.

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS TO THE MAV SUSTAINABLE ENVIRONMENT ADVISORY GROUP COMMITTEE
Selection Process
MAV makes direct contact with metropolitan and regional Councils in Victoria requesting nominations for Council representatives (Council Officer or Councillor).
A MAV selection criteria is that nominations be from both metropolitan and regional Victoria.
