Guideline / The system will provide an intuitive User interface in order to provide ease of use.
Suggestions /Comments added / The system targets four kinds of users, each group has a different level of knowledge and skill. Students UI should be the easiest and simplest to use, and instructions must be in clear and easy-to-understand English; one of the purposes was to “remind” students about A – G requirements and the courses they are taking, which should be included on all screens. Teachers, counselor(s) and administrator(s) have more expertise with the fundamentals of scheduling, but we only saw the counselor screen, and the output for the teachers.

General Feedback unrelated to any particular Capability being reviewed

Reviewers Name:………Beth Kennedy …………………………………………………………………………..

How satisfied are you with the current system? (Rating from 1-10 (10 = Great!))

x - 6

Your Feedback:

……………The process has been plagued by communication problems, everything from scheduling meetings (and knowing what was to be discussed) to the basics of the system. The team has done their best to build a system that was designed by another team (Semester 1) who we felt had a good and detailed understanding of what we needed, and what it should look like. The problems we’ve experienced this semester we believe are due to the almost complete turn over of team members. This is an important system for our students and for scheduling their classes; we wanted to give them a “college experience” of registering for classes – and for being able to see their progress towards graduation, and towards acceptance at CSU, UC, and private universities (like USC).

Was the user manual helpful? (Rating from 1-10 (10 = Great!))

Reprioritize requirements in 2nd iteration (Rating from 1-4 (4 = Highest priority!))

Table 12 Reprioritize requirements

Requirement / Description / Priority / New Priority / Rationale
CR-4: Schedule generation / The system helps the administrator in scheduling a time table for the school
Note: This requirement was worked on in the first iteration but is not currently completed to a state where it can be tested. / 4 / This was the whole point of the system as far as Ms. Mailman was concerned – we have seen very little of this.
CR-10: LAUSD constraints / The various LAUSD constraints should be entered into the database through a simple UI
Note: This requirement was worked on in the first iteration but is not currently completed to a state where it can be tested. / 4 / See the college registration system comment above.
SR-3: Authentication to the system / The user logs in from the interface from team 04 in an authenticated session from where they are redirected to our system. We check the cookie to confirm that they were in an authenticated session. The cookie would have user type, user id and authentication key.
Note: This requirement cannot be delivered at the first iteration because it is pending completion of team 4’s work on OAUTH and the login screen. / 4 / If users are not authenticated, how are we to use the system?
CR- 5 : Track the progress of a particular student / Track student progress from A-G requirements for mapping / 3 / This is an essential part of the system design component – see my comment above.
CR- 6: Student Progress Enhanced / Ability of students to see how many more credits they need to complete a particular grade / 3 / Checking progress toward graduation and toward acceptance to a university, etc is an essential component of the system design.
CR-9: GPA for various universities / Displays required GPA for entrance to CSU, U of California and other universities / 3 / Checking progress toward graduation and toward acceptance to a university, etc is an essential component of the system design.
CR-2: Level of Normalization / The introduction of a school code which will enable thescheduling system to be ubiquitous / 1 / This was to be part of the initial data base.
