MEMORANDUM THRU
Commander, 1st Engineer Brigade, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473
Commandant, United States Army Engineer School, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473
FOR Commander, Sapper Leader Course, Fort Leonard Wood, MO 65473
SUBJECT: MOS Waiver for Attendance of the Sapper Leader Course
1. General: The Sapper Leader Course prerequisites currently exclude all non 12A or 12B Soldiers due to the current S4 MTOE coding. In order for Soldiers to attend the Sapper Leader Course outside the MOS of 12A and 12B a waiver must be approved by the U.S. Army Engineer Commandant.
2. Discussion: Give background information on the SM Attending the course. SSG Micheal J. Walker, xxx-xx-1234, requests approval to attend the Sapper Leader Course class ???-???. SSG Walker is a 12N that is currently Ranger qualified and needs to attend the Sapper Leader Course IOT become a certified Sapper Leader Course instructor.
3. Justification: The justification must relate to the need for a S4 SM within your organization. SSG Walker is on orders to the Sapper Leader Course and will need to attend the course to become fully certified to teach Sapper students. SSG Walker’s ERB and UMR are attached showing that he is slotted in a S4 MTOE position.
4. The undersigned acknowledges that this waiver is not guaranteed approval. This waiver must be routed through the SLC and approved by the Engineer Commandant or his delegate prior to SM attending the course. If this waiver is not approved prior to the report date the SM will not be admitted to the course.
5. The POC for this memorandum is CPT Jack at or, 123-4567.
