Herding Test & Herding Trials
Test and Trials open to all dogs nine (9) months of age or older that are registered with The American Kennel Club and have been accepted into the herding program are eligible to participate in herding tests and trials. For a complete listing of the breeds eligible to participate in the AKC herding program, please visit the AKC website at
These events will be held outdoors.
A recording Fee of $3.50 is required by AKC for each entry in Herding Trials and Tests. (American Kennel Club Herding Regulation, Chapter 1, Section 3).
Exhibition Only runs will be accepted up to and including day of Event if limits have not been reached.

To be eligible a dog must compete at least once on each of the livestock offered (cattle, ducks, sheep)in the San Diego Classic series. The special Championship class will not count towards the Buckle.
Only Qualifying Scores accrued from January 17 through January 26 will be tabulated.
Please note a qualifying score on all stock is not needed, but OnlyQualifying Scores will be counted.

ADDITIONAL NOTICES
Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that the dog is absent (unless
replaced by an alternate), disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or judge or
barred from competition by the Test/Trial Committee.
If because of riots, civil disturbances, fire, act of God, public emergency or other acts beyond the control of the club it is impossible to open or complete the test/trial, no refund of entry fee will be made.
Returned Checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. No conditional entries willbe accepted. Entries not on official AKC entry forms and photocopies of entryform without the agreement and rules on the reverse side of the official AKCEntry forms are not accepted.
No un-entered dogs (except set-out dogs) will be allowed at the test/trial site. All dogs present must be held on leash or otherwise restricted except when working stock. Under NO circumstances will dogs be allowed to disturb the resting stock or interfere from outside the arena with another dog’s performance in the arena. Any dogs aggressive to persons or stock will be removed. (See Chapter 1, Section 20 of the American Kennel Club Herding Regulations.)
All AKC Rules regarding conduct will be strictly enforced.

CANADIAN EXHIBITORS MUST SUBMIT ENTRIES WITH CHECKS DRAWN ON U.S. ACCOUNTS OR WITH INTERNATIONAL MONEY ORDERS IN U.S. FUNDS
RETURNED CHECKS/INVALID CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS do not constitute a valid entry fee. If a check is returned, fees must be paid in guaranteed funds, checks will not be accepted as a replacement. The Secretary will add a collection fee to the amount of each returned check and credit/debit card. Subsequent returned checks and credit/debit card from the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. Entry Fee will not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Veterinarian or judge or barred from competition by action of the Show Committee.
Exhibitors should follow their veterinarian’s recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases and have appropriate vaccinations.
The Show giving Club, the Show Secretary, their agents, employees, etc., assume no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assume no responsibility for injury to children.
No entry shall be made and no entry shall be accepted which specifies any condition as to its acceptance. Entries will not be acceptedwithout signatures on forms sent by Mail. The “AGREEMENT” Section of the Official AKC Entry Form MUST accompany the entry. If Entries are made on line, the url is automatically the signature.
Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing, email or by fax prior to close of entries.
Refunds of $5.00 and less will not be issued due to the costs of processing.

ELIGIBILITY
All dogs nine months of age or older that are registered with the American Kennel Club and classified as Herding Dogs under Chapter 2 of the Dog Show Rules are eligible to participate in herding tests and trials. Dogs classified as Herding Dogs under Chapter 2 of the Dog Show Rules that have been granted an Indefinite Listing Privilege (ILP) may participate in tests and trials. No dog may be entered in two classes on the same course with the same kind of stock under the same judge at any test/trial.Bitches in season shall be eligible and will run at the end of the class in tests, and in catalog order as listed in the class in trials.A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for the herding test or trial closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any herding test or Trial for which entries closed after the date of acquisition. regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his or her name. State on entry form whether transfer application has been mailed to AKC. (for complete rule refer to Chap. 14, Sect 3 of "Rules Applying to Registration and Dog Shows")
AGREEMENT
I (we) acknowledge that the "Rules Applying to Registration and Dog Shows" and the "Rules for Herding Tests and Trials" have been made available to me (us) and that I (we) agree that the club holding this Herding Test or Trial has the right to refuse this entry for cause which the club shall deem to be sufficient. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of the Herding Test or Trial and of the opportunity to have the dog tested or judged and to win prize money, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold this club, its' members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or show secretary and owner or lessor of the premises and any employees of the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or upon the Herding Test or Trial premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I(we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim for damage or injury to the dog, whether such loss, disappearance, theft, damage or injury be caused or alleged to be caused by the negligence of the club or any of the parties aforementioned, or by the negligence of any other person, or any other causes.
I (we) hereby assume the sole responsibility for and agree to indemnify and save the aforementioned parties harmless from any and all loss and expense (including legal fees) by reason of the liability imposed by law upon any of the aforementioned parties for damage because of bodily injuries, including death at any time resulting there from, sustained by any person or persons, including myself (ourselves) or on account of damage to property, arising out of or in consequence of my (our) participation in the Herding Test or Trial, howsoever such injuries, death or damage to property may be caused, and whether or not the same may have been caused or may be alleged to have been caused by negligence of the aforementioned parties or any of their employees or agents, or any other persons.
