TAUIWI CAUCUS
IMAGINING THE SOLUTION 2013
09/10 September
St John’s Conference Centre, Wellington
INTRODUCTION
“We often spend a lot of time describing the problem. We have to spend more time imagining the solution.”
David Lee, Prevent Connect
Imagining the Solution 2013 is the second annual national sexual violence prevention hui, following on from the Tauiwi and Bicultural stream from Whai ki te Ara Tika – Imagining the Solution in 2012.
The focus ofImagining the Solution 2013 is the primary prevention of sexual violence, or stopping sexual violence before it takes place. This hui will showcase primary prevention strategies, activities and programmes to help build communities free of sexual violence.
Imagining the Solution 2013 is hosted by Tauiwi Caucus of Te Ohaakii a Hine – National Network Ending Sexual Violence Together (TOAH-NNEST).
TOAH-NNESTis a national network of those providing specialist services for sexual violence prevention and intervention. It represents about 40 specialist not-for-profit organisations (NGOs), and many individual specialists working in whānau, hapu, iwi and communities throughout Aotearoa New Zealand.
TOAH-NNEST has a Te Tiriti o Waitangi based structure with two houses: Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri (tikanga Māori) and Tauiwi Caucus (non-Māori).
TOAH-NNEST’s vision is for Aotearoa New Zealand to be free of sexual violence.
Ngā Kaitiaki Mauri will be hosting kaupapa Māori sexual violence prevention regional events later in the year. To pre-register interest in these, please email
REGISTRATION FEES

Non-NGO’s / $250 or $150 for one day

There will be a mixture of presentations, debates, panels and workshops.
The final part of day two will feature a workshop from ACC on funding sexual violence primary prevention, and planning the priorities for the future national strategic direction for Tauiwi Caucus of TOAH-NNEST in our primary prevention work.
