Math: ratiosDay
6 / Science: simple machines: Levers
Technology: Visualization and CAD
Introduction:
In this lesson, students will learn to assemble individual components into an assembly of multiple parts.
This will be accomplished in two phases:
1.) CAD assembly skills will be developed by following the tutorials on pages 1-41 through 1-64 of SolidWorks CAD tutorial.
2.) Students will then use these skills to assemble the “See Saw” lever system used in the trebuchet throwing arm.
This lesson provides an excellent opportunity for the introduction of the physics of simple machines and the operation of levers.
Objective:
Students who complete this lesson will:
1.) Complete the Linkage Assembly Solid Works CAD Tutorial
2.) Create See Saw Tutorial Assembly
3.) Explain and demonstrate the effect of balanced and unbalanced forces acting on a lever system.
