Approval of minutes Oct. PTSO meeting / Meeting called to order by Carrie Greskoviak. Motion to approve minutes from October 2011 PTSO by Mark Stevens, 2nd by Ms. Padecki /
Treasure’s Report / Expenses since start of 9/1/11 = $1,709.99
Income (interest) = $6.10
Ending Balance = $13,625.27 (includes $751.32 funds from 2011 graduating class that was not spent on ELOB projects) / Treasure’s Report: Motion to approve, Ms. Renaud, 2nd by Mark Stevens /
Crew Discussion / Ms. Renaud talked about Crew in 9th grade being about building relationships, getting freshman acclimated to high school and explaining why we are an EL school.
Mr. Underwood explained that 10th grade Crew is about becoming independent and building on 9th grade crew ideas. Build, bond and connect with others. Sophomore passage includes putting together a portfolio about who you are as a person and student, what you’ve done at Harborside that helps you pass into the upper grades. It is also about what you can do for society and community.
Several students talked about what they like about crew. /
Schwans / We missed making the profit by $20. We may have another in February. We are considering a December during exhibition night Dec. 8, could be a catalog night. /
Golf Outing / Shari Pullen volunteered to co-chair /
Poinsettia Sale / 471 items sold, total $10,144.00
Top seller: Jake Greskoviak, 2nd: Max Seebeck, 3rd: Collin Alkalay / We will run a free press release in Sunday paper. PTSO buying 4 extra poinsettias for tables for breakfast. Mr. Underwood putting together a powerpoint slide for channel 20.
David asked that 70% or $6.00, whatever is greater, go into student accounts from poinsettia sales. Other 30% into general accounts. Cash prizes for top 3 sellers come out of general fund. David motioned, Ms. Padecki 2nd. /
Carrie sent out 4 letters for donations for pancake breakfast. Got back 2 no’s. Also donation form sent to Harborside families for food and paper product. Will need by Tuesday before breakfast. Kim will run the craft at the breakfast.
New Business / David motioned: $751.32 from 2011 graduating class not spent on ELOB project (excess, except those who have siblings) be offered as scholarships to outgoing class. Shari Pullen 2nd.Future excess from graduation class ELOB given in $50 increments as scholarships. Any odd funds outside of $50 increments go back to ELOB general fund. / Will discuss next month: students who have already graduated may apply for scholarships for 2nd year of college /
Announcements / Thank you to PTSO for help with coat check and beverages at Homecoming. Also Ms. Padecki and Ms. Renaud are collecting pink lids thru November. $410.00 collected for Angela Edwards foundation. /
Principals Report – Mr. Haithcock / Thank you for such a great turn out at PTSO.
Golf Outing: Purpose is to create an endowment fund for future scholarships. When we have a big enough fund, we give away the interest in scholarships.
Mr. Haithcock will be taking 3 students to talk to potential charter schools.
WKCE is going well – creating new incentives and fun.
Possible merger with Paidaia middle school at the Reuther site. More to come. / Do we know groups who will donate prizes for baskets for golf outing? /
