Minutes for May 9, 2015 Board Meeting

Mission by the Sea Church

The Alligator Point/St. Teresa Association (APST) Board of Directors meeting was called to order by President Jim McCloy at 9:10 a.m.

Members present: Jim McCloy, Jim Apthorp, Joe Hambrose, Coman Leonard, Beth Hayes,Marvin Heymann, John Murphy, Paul Parker andBarbara Withers

Members absent: Bill Gladwin, MaryJeanne Lykes, Ken Osborne,Eddie Sosebeeand Sam Rogers

Motion by Barbara Withers to accept Board Meeting minutes for April 11; Coman Leonard seconded; approved.

Coman Leonard delivered the Treasurer’s report stating our current balance was $49,225.37. Paul Parker moved to accept the report, Joe Hambrose seconded, approved.

Committee Reports

Membership: Beth Hayes reported there are168 paid members including 3 comps.There were 17 membership checks received in April including 2 new members and 3 from St. Teresa.

Beautification: Paul Parkernoted that the county had 2 roadside trash retrieval trucks out of order and they are falling behind on monthly pick-ups. Jim McCloy emailed Cheryl Sanders that APSTA would endorse mandatory trash service for all residents. A motion was made by Barbara Withers, seconded by Beth Hayes, that we should hire someone on a one-time trial basis to pick up the roadside trash after the county makes their monthly pickup, if necessary. The motion passed.

Newsletter: No report.

Web Site: Jim McCloy reported he is maintaining the web site’s content.

County Commission Meetings: Jim McCloy noted that MaryJeanne Lykes has attended all but one of the last 2-1/2 month’s county commission meetings.

Fire House Funding Committee: Jim Apthorp reported that the AP/ST Volunteer Fire Department has about $250,000 in the bank with no debt. Their treasurer, Jim Cummins, will approach Centennial Bank about a loan for the building and ladder truck as they had a good relationship with the former Wakulla Bank.

Fire House Building Committee: Marvin Heymann reported that he will be taking the current drawings to the county offices on Monday.

Security: Jim McCloyreported that Sheriff’s monthly incident reports are still being emailed to the board, and that the deputy was on site last weekend issuing speeding tickets as he did not have a ticket book that accommodated parking tickets.

Board of Adjustments: Joe Hambrose reported that no meetings were held for the past 3 months.

New Business

Jim McCloy announced that Paul Parker has been named chair of the Nominating Committee. A blast email will be sent out to current members asking for nominations to the board.

Bert Boldt reported that the Wakulla News is considering placing a newspaper vending machine at the Water Department building and/or the Marina Point.

Ben Houston addressed the Board and requested the installation of leash laws signs at the Bald Point beach access points.
