Dear Comrades
Re: Protest Day at Azad Maiden Mumbai on 10.02.2016
Protest Day against indifferent attitude of the government/ IBA on long pending demands of the retirees was organised at Azad Maiden Mumbai on 10.02.2016 from 10.30 onwards.
2. More than 700 bank retirees from various banks assembled at the venue to register their protest against the government/ IBA for not approving their demands for last 10 years and not also holding discussion with the representatives of AIBRF on them.
3. The gathering was addressed by the Chairman, President , General Secretary and other Office Bearers of AIBRF and office bearers of sister retiree organisations who came on the venue to extend their support on retiree demands. At the end the memorandum to register our protest with IBA was adopted by the house unanimously by appending their signatures on it for submission to IBA authorities.
4. Thereafter the delegation of 7 Office Bearers of AIBRF submitted the memorandum in IBA office which was received by the Chief Executive Officer, IBA on behalf of the Chairman. While submitting the memorandum, the General Secretary had drawn special attention of IBA authorities on anger and anguish of more than 3 lakhs bank retirees through out the country on stand of IBA of not holding discussion with the representatives of the retirees to find solution of the issue and not even acknowledging/ replying AIBRF communications written on various subjects from time to time in last 10 years though the fact remains that IBA represents 27 public sector banks and have been authorised by them to deal with pension related issues at the industry level.
5. During the meeting, attention of IBA authorities was also drawn on the proceedings of the Parliamentary Committee Meeting held on 08.02.2016 to discuss retiree pending issues based on the representation submitted by AIBRF and certain direction given by the committee to dispose of them in time bound manner. Attention was also drawn on sentiments of lakhs of retirees in very effective and clear terms that now retirees are not going to sit silently and our action programmes will be intensified till the issues are resolved by holding discussion with our representatives.
6. At the end the Chief Executive Officer assured the delegation that our memorandum on the issues raised therein will be placed before the management committee of IBA soon and the decision taken on our memorandum will be conveyed to AIBRF.
7. We convey our thanks to our membership who responded our call and assembled at Azad Maiden to register their protest despite advancing age and traffic difficulties in city of Mumbai. We also convey our thanks to the Office bearers of Maharashtra State Committee and entire team for taking all steps to make the programme successful.
8. As advised earlier our next action programmes are as under

9.Comrades, We have waited patiently for 10 years for resolution of retiree issues and relied on the assurances coming from different quarters. But bank retiree community under the banner of AIBRF has decided to come on street in support of their demands. We are confident that final success will be ours. We cannot be suppressed indefinitely.
