Just a reminder that the 8:25 is our late bell. At 8:20 the first bell rings giving children and families a five minute grace period to get into the classroom. After the 8:25 bell, students are considered tardy. Thank you for making the effort to get your children to school on time.

AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT - See the enclosed registration packet for the spring classes that will begin the week of April 13th. Applications are due by Friday, April 10th. Classes are filled on a "first come, first served" basis, so SIGN UP NOW!

KINDERGARTEN ROUND-UP - Join with other parents and meet the principal at the Orientation Meeting, April 9, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the multi-purpose room. You will have an opportunity to ask questions and get all the information you need to register your kindergarten student. Round-up enrollment meetingsare scheduled for all day

May 6 & 7, 2015.

If you live within the boundaries of the Nevada City School District and your child will turn 5 years old on or before September 1, 2015, you may register him/her for kindergarten for the 2015-2016 school year. If your child will turn 5 years old on or between September 2, 2015 – December 2, 2015, you may register him/her for transitional kindergarten.

STEP UP TO KINDERGARTEN - First 5 of Nevada County will be offering a free kindergarten readiness camp for Nevada County children with no preschool experience or who need a boost to get ready for kindergarten. The camp will be held at several Nevada County locations, one of which is Deer Creek School. The camp will run from Wednesday, June 17th through Wednesday, July 8th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. We just received a load of wood chips that need to be spread throughout the orchard. If you would like to help, put on your gloves and meet us in the orchard!

READ-A-THON: We are halfway through the Read-a-thon and the students have read over 2,500 books, so we are well on our way to the Carnival. Great job! Kindergarten - 2nd graders, please turn in your Week 3 tally sheet tomorrow. Your Week 4 tally sheet is in today's Communicator. 3rd & 4th grade parents, please make sure that you are checking your student's calendarin their Binder Reminder. Also, please turn in your Pledge Sheets or make pledges using 99 Pledges, If you didn't receive your e-mail regarding on-line pledges and would like to, please e-mail me nd I will get it set up for you. Keep up the great reading!

Carnival: As a reward for the Read-a-thon, we will be having a Carnival on April 10th. We need a lot of volunteers to make this happen. Please see the enclosed volunteer form and turn that in to your child's teacher or the office. Thanks for your help!
