TASK:
- You are to create an avant-garde wearable (jewellery) art piece, based on a theme.
- You may choose one of the following themes, or select your own: bold & bright, spunky space-age, nice & natural, mighty metallics, ornamental oriental, edgy Egyptian, trendy tropical, dark & detailed, fluffy & feminine, retro regalia, artful aboriginal, watery wonder, lush & leafy, natty nautical, floral fusion, earthen experiments, pretty pastel, automotive attire, decorative dots or great Gothic.
- You may use any materials used in the minor folio to create the artwork. A mixture of materials will be provided by your teacher; however you may provide your own materials if preferred.
- Your final work must be aesthetically pleasing and show consideration of the elements and principles of design. The VAD design process must be evidenced in the final artwork.
- Neat craftsmanship is very important.
- The artwork must be able to be worn by a model (e.g.you or someone you select), who will be photographed wearing it, and the pictures used in the 2014 Aldridge State High School Art Exhibition.
- The artwork must be a wearable artwork made as a set (of 2 or 3 pieces in the set only), for example: a brooch and earrings/ earrings and neckwear/ a tie pin and cuff links/a hair piece and a bracelet/earrings and a ring/ brooch and cufflinks etc.
TERMINOLOGY:
- Wearable Art - Wearable art, describes the making of individually designed pieces of hand-made clothing or jewellery as artistic expressions.
- Avant-garde – Something fresh and unusual, a truly original approach.
