Here are the answers from the questions that we did not cover during the session.
Q: Can you apply a workflow to approve a grant or specific expenditure from the planned budget?
A: The entire budget itself can go through approval workflow and if you enable expense mgmt, each expense report can through approval workflow. Once the expenses are approved, it then updates the actual expense within the Budget. When we deliver the grant module, it will not have approval workflow initially – this will be introduced in a future release.
Q: Does NewDea have APIs available that can be used to integrate it with other apps?
A: We do provide web services on our end which customers can invoke to integrate with other applications. It does take programming effort to call a web service.
Q: Is there an API for Data Access or other functionality / is there reporting Module?
A: We do have a reporting module embedded within Project Center (Microsoft Reporting Services).The only constraint is that you must use IE to design a report within report builder. Once the report is saved to the server, any user can run the report using any browser we support.
Q: Follow-up question on APIs is: do they have webservices for pulling data out so you can build your own live dashboard?
A: Yes, webservices are both ways. We also have a data export feature that can provide data that can be load into your data warehouse or database for your own analysis, etc.
Q: I wondered if/how Newdeacan capture real-time knowledge and data (narratives, etc) from primary beneficiaries as part of broader M&E reporting?We’ve been looking at systems like Sensemaker and Cognitive Edge recently.
A: We do not provide a method today for beneficiaries to provide stories or images….something we could consider in the future.
Q: Does the system have the ability to automatically roll up information at the activities level to inform the appropriate indicators?
A: Typically we see that outputs are used to track the measurable deliverables of the activities. You can roll up multiple logic models into a higher level model to show how the activities of those projects lead to and support program level outcomes and impact. Indicators can also be aggregated in the higher level model as well.
