JayDoc Free Clinic Pre-Medical Internship Position 2017
General Information
JayDoc Free Clinic is a student-run free clinic in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Our mission is to provide quality healthcare to the underserved populations of Greater Kansas City, while creating invaluable opportunities for students to enhance their education in the health professions. We offer a general walk-in clinic on Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:00-9:00pm and specialty services by appointment on Tuesday nights. Before completing this application, we encourage you to visit our website jaydocfreeclinic.org and better acquaint yourself with our mission and services.
As JayDoc has continued to grow and expand its services, so has its need for more experienced volunteers. Certain clinic tasks require individuals who are very familiar with how the clinic is run and what kinds of patients we see. For this reason, the Executive Board has created the Premedical Internship Program. We are currently seeking interns for two positions: Administrative Intern and Social Services Intern.
Pre-medical Internship Expectations
We expect that all our volunteers dress and act professionally while serving in any capacity at JayDoc Free Health Clinic. Business casual is the standard mode of dress in our clinic.
Scheduling will occur on a month-to-month basis. In general, we expect each of our volunteers to volunteer at least twice per month but you are more than welcome to come help at the clinic as many times as you are willing and able. We ask for at least a one year commitment*.
We expect all our volunteers to be punctual and to honor the commitments they have made to volunteering at the clinic. Obviously, unexpected things come up, and other volunteers are often willing to switch or cover shifts. If you miss a shift without notifying the Assistant Director who oversees your position, you will be immediately dismissed from your volunteer responsibilities at the clinic.
*Commitments less than one year (e.g. semester) may be permitted based on extenuating circumstances and subject to approval of the JayDoc Executive Board.
