CREATIVE ASSIGNMENTS 2017 IN ENGLISH

(Classes: A3, A4-6, A5, A7, B4, B5)

A GRADE (Α ΛΥΚΕΙΟΥ)

UNIT 1

  1. Make a diagram of your (best) friends and write a text of 250 words describing them (appearance-character-habits) and giving details about your relationship (when-where you met, common experiences, similarities-differences…). Prepare a power point presentation or a live (funny- uncommon one) for class.
  2. If you are artistic, make a painting representing your idea of friendship/or portrait(s)of your friend(s). Follow an artistic style (cubism, naturalism, expressionism…)and parallel it to a famous already existing painting about friendship. It should be accompanied by a description of 250 words.
  3. Give the story of Unit 1, a different ending. Change the final scene between the two friends (250 words, spacing 15 and font size 12).

UNIT 2

  1. A Diorama is a three-dimensional full-size or miniature model of people,animals, landscapes…) enclosed/or not in a glass showcase. Use internet information to make your own. Your Diorama should represent a character/scene of one (or more) movies described in Unit 2, “Being α movie buff” or a scene of your favorite movie or a movie you recently watched. Include a written description of the scene you have chosen to represent, the reason you have chosen it and any additional information (250 words).
  2. Create a sculpture of a movie character/scene as described in unit 2. Use soap, wood, clay, sticks, wire, stones, old pieces of clothing or a combination of them and write a text of 250 words giving reasons for your choice and describing the steps you followed.
  3. Movie posters give just enough information to give you a taste of what the movie will be about. Write a 250 word summary of your own script and make a poster containing information such as title, actors…to promote the new film on your blog. You will smash the Oscars!!!

UNIT 3

  1. Write a letter to Mirela (250 words) helping her make an efficient blog with pictures, songs, articles and many more about Roma people (origins, language, folk tales, music, dance…). Make the blog and present it in class.

UNIT 4

  1. Make a box which contains objects you acquired from your trips around Greece and/or around the world. Alternatively, put in the box objects which represent the idea of tourism in Greece (mainland, islands, colors, traditions…). Make it colorful and decorative. A description of 250 words should be included.

UNITS 1-4

  1. Select a piece of music (song) or create your own one based on the titles and topics of Units1-4. Express feelings and scenes writing both lyrics and rhythm and use a musical instrument to present it in class. Alternatively, you can videotape it. Accompany it with a 250 word text explaining the lyrics and the steps you followed. Your music clip should be between 45-75 seconds.
  2. Based on the titles of units 1-4, choose three famous, relative to the content of the units, movies two of your best friends should watch. Find the most appropriate according to the character and tastes of each of your friends and write a text of 250 words giving reasons for your choices.

You are required to present ORIGINAL and CREATIVE works.References are absolutely necessary. Copies or modified already existing works are not to be accepted.

B GRADE (Β ΛΥΚΕΙΟΥ)

UNIT 5

  1. Based on the pictures of pages 65-66, create a letter exchange (2 texts of 300 words) between you (a government official) and an under-cover agent exchanging top secret information about life on other planets. You may include a code of communication so as not to be understood by other spies. Include pictures or any other strange object that has come into your hands and make a secret box to keep them in. Present everything in class.

UNIT 6

  1. You are an member of the Organising Committee of the Olympic Games. You are to decide upon an extreme sport to be included in the next Olympic Games. Based on Unit 6 choose one (or any other you think appropriate) and write a speech of 300 words giving reasons for your choice, trying to convince the other members of the Committee.
  2. In case you are artistic, you can design/create the Olympic torch/medals/mascot/logo/sports shoes/sports clothes/bags of the Games and then write a 300 word text giving information about your source of inspiration and ideas.

UNIT 8

  1. You are a very famous astrologer and you are asked to create new zodiac signs like the Chinese ones. Based on Unit 8, select twelve animals to represent the new signs and write a 300 word text about dates, sign characteristics, lucky numbers and any other necessary information about your inspiration.
  2. If you are artistic, create the symbols of the new signs or make lucky charms to match each sign (you can paint them or use wood, clay, stones, wire, metal, old pieces of jewelry to make them). Then, write a 300 word text giving information about your inspiration and the steps you followed to create them.

You are required to present ORIGINAL and CREATIVE works. References are absolutely necessary. Copies and modified already existing works are not to be accepted.
