Analytical centrifugation– LUM’ssuccessful analytical method for the Ink Jet Industry

Invited lecture in Lisbon and Sponsoring of Power of Ink-Jet Materials V in Berlin

Berlin, 22.10.2007: The innovative analytical instruments on the basis of analytical centrifugation made by LUM meet an increased demand from the leaders in ink jet printing industries.

Ink jet printing has become the leading digital printing technology and has developed new markets. Applications include wide format printing, photo quality printing, industrial printing, besides the well-known personal computer printing. The continuous improvement of product quality of inks and pigments, a better understanding of the physical and chemical printing processes are essential preconditions for the successful improvement and positioning of this printing technology compared to other.

The analytical instruments LUMiSizer® and LUMiFuge®,made by L.U.M. GmbH,provide both, the producer and the user of inks and pigment dispersions with the possibility of integral characterization of product quality. The applied, patented STEP-technology and the multi-sampling approach result in a significant decrease of analysis time and cost and enable the understanding of the partly very complex processes during production and application of printing inks.

On the 15th Annual Ink Jet Printing Conference in Lisbon in November Prof. Lerche, Managing Director of L.U.M. GmbH, gives a lecture on the characterization of the backfolding-effect. This effect is closely linked to the dispersion quality of carbon black dispersions and has been discovered for the first time by LUM’s technology. Within the session “Real World Issues Determine Success“ solutions for current technological problems are presented, which significantly influence the progress in research and development.

In the beginning of December L.U.M. will be a conference sponsor of “The Power of Ink Jet Materials V“ in Berlin. Prof. Lerche: „This enables us to support directly the exchange of experiences and ideas among the experts and to benefit from it, as well, to be able to offer instruments and innovative solutions in the future, too. Last but not leastwe understand it as our pleasant dutyto support scientific events in Berlin, with our headquarters here, to make our city more attractive.“
