Deputy Technical Director for Advanced Clinical Care Grant
The Technical Director is the senior technical advisor to the ACC project, ensuring all project activities reflect the best available evidence. S/he will be responsible for the design and review of the Advanced Clinical Care (ACC) grant implementation in Limpopo and Eastern Cape Province. This will entail, amongst other: project pre-planning & planning, management of technical and support staff in multiple sites, high level representation of BZ to NGO and DoH partners, project implementation, regular written reporting, monitoring and quality control of all phases of the grant.
In addition, s/he will be responsible for the overall coordination, execution, control and completion of ACC deliverables ensuring consistency with BZ strategy, DOH and funder commitments and goals. The technical director will provide the Director of Programmes with any technical support or information needed to respond to the donors or partners on national policy and ACC project issues.
More specifically, the Technical director will:
-Translate the technical performance and progress of the ACC project into documents, SOPs and donor reports.
-Collate and disseminate technically accurate evidence-based recommendations and project experience and lessons learned for improving ACC programming.
-Hold district consultative meetings in Limpopo and Eastern Cape to obtain ACC buy in
-Develop and sustain collaborative relationships will all stakeholders such as DOH managers, sub awards and other funded NGOs; etc.
-Set up, recruit, and train implementing teams in both provinces
-Lead the preparation of the technical component of the grant continuation application, annual workplan and budget for donor submission.
-Together with implementation team, oversee the budget, coordinate and guide the ACC Project Officers in Eastern Region, Central Region, ACC Project Coordinator, Limpopo Provincial Manager and Clinical Advisors.
-Lead the periodic reviews of ACC annual workplan and budget and provide technical guidance to HO and field-office staff for the implementation of ACC activities.
-As necessary, conceptualize and manage activities implemented by project partners including developing and managing scope of works, budgets, identifying appropriate technical staff, and ensuring successful completion of project activities.
-Ensure resource availability at all clinic project and activity sites (CHAMP sites)
-Supervise with programme staff to achieve set targets on ACC award
-Will be required to participate at NDOH and PEPFAR meetings on an adhoc basis
-Support the M&E unit and project partners to develop, implement, analyse, and report on data collection.
-Generate project reports for both internal and external purposes that meet both BZ and PEPFAR reporting standards.
-Support and promote the project’s activities to the national and international community (through the participation in and/or organization conferences, workshops, and seminars, through publications and presentations). Participate in and present at technical meetings and conferences on behalf of BZ and the donor.
-Will report directly to the Principle Investigator and expect to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of staff and managers.

Education and Experience
- qualifications in Medicine (MBChB degree) and post graduate degree in Public Health
- qualification in Infectious disease at post graduate level an added advantage
- extensive experience in HIV and TB management in NGO environment, minimum of 5 years
- proven successful track record of direct project management and cost effective and timely achieving of project deliverables, minimum of 5 years
- proven and progressive experience in people management of large staff teams located in multiple work sites, large project budgets, as well as strategic thinking and risk management
