Junior Coaching

Funding ran out for Junior Coaching and Ben Rowe left to take up at a post at St. Peter’s School York.

Dick, Ken and I met with Ralph to discuss possible funding available from TRUT.

Many thanks to Kate O’Sullivan for embracing the role of Junior Coach.

Lauren’s Male Athletes and HRR

Sponsored by Charles Clinkard, Lauren Fisher’s START boys competed at HRR.

It was agreed with Clinkards that they can advertise on at least one of the TRC trailers. Many thanks for their generosity.

Entries Secretary

Thankyou to Denise Mc Ardle for her time occupying the role of Entries Secretary.

Becky Graham took over for a short while followed by Jo Lloyd and latterly Dionne Dunning. Thanks to all.

Fund Securer/Raiser

Dave Brindle has taken on this important role. He submitted a brief report with regard to his initial findings in June 2016. He needs support from the Committee.

Dave consulted with the Committee on Newcastle Building Society and Future Energy’s Affiliation funding. He has expressed interest in Newcastle B.S. funding on behalf of TRC.

Trailer Maintenance.

Both trailers have received at least one service during the year. Repairs carried out and tyres replaced (excessive wear).

Banana Maintenance

Rowing Solutions do a specialist refurb service.

According to Colin, the following work is required:

1)Motor and controls.

2)Sealing the floats. These leak water, as you know.

Estimated costs: Anywhere between £1000.00 and £3000.00 + transport (to & from Wargrave).

Either a local solution needs to be found (to avoid expensive transport costs – approx. £500.00 each way) or we send to Wargrave.

Towing Vehicle

Was fully investigated. Committee decided too expensive and too much responsibility. Thankyou to Richard Olver for his continued support and to additional towers (parents of juniors).

TRUT

Formal request sent to TRUT Board for TRC Committee to be kept informed of any initiatives which affects TRC. E.g. “I am Team GB” event & Sports Activator.

START/Steve Gunn

I advised Steve Gunn on behalf of the TRC Committee, that TRC is fully committed to continuing with the START programme at Tees, should it be required.

The latest round of fund securing by British Rowing from UK Sport &/or Sport England resulted in a reduction of the START programme. TRC no longer a START centre.

Thankyou to Steve Gunn, Lauren Fisher, James Harris and Nathan Adams for their contributions over the life of the programme at Tees.

100 Club

Rekindled by Mike Fallaize. New bank account at Santander established.Intention is to dedicate funds raised to the junior coaching fund. A new 100 Club Constitution has been drawn up whichis to be posted to the TRC website. Thankyou to Mike for his efforts.

Towing Guidelines

I am working on a guide document for all towers for the safe use and care of TRC boat trailers.Currently in draft form. To be completed and issued before spring events 2017.

TRC Constitution

Submitted to Fiona Gee for inclusion in the "documents" section of the website.

Club Rules

Final approval sought from Committee before submitting to Fiona Gee for inclusion on website. I will assist new Secretary to complete.

T.U.B.C

Currently in dialogue withMark Hawkins, Head of Sport, Teesside University Boat Club with regard to integration or amalgamationbetween TRC and TUBC.Main considerations are membership status and plans regarding boats and equipment.

Laurence Whiteley

Wrote to Laurence and confirmed his Life Membership status.

5 Year Plan/Development Plan

A meeting held with Phillip Searle and KaramiUreto progress this further as the current Development Plan (on the website) is out of date. After reviewing the first high level draft of the new 5 year plan, we spent much time discussing the (enormous) subject of our coaching aspirations within TRC. As discussed at October 2016’s Committee Meeting, we need to seriously consider appointing a coaching Director or Coaching Co-ordinator.It is essential for a plan to exist to give the Club direction. I would invite others to participate in this process. I am happy to assist despite no longer being a Club Officer. The question of seeking assistance from British Rowing or from an external consultant was discussed. This is an important document.

New Ergos

In principle, Committee has committed to purchasing 2 new ergos.

Finally

Thankyou to Dick Wilkinson for his term as Chairman.

Thankyou to Ben Rowe for his short term as Captain.

Thankyou to Neil Dunning for taking up the Captain’s role mid term.

Thankyou to all Committee Members for their support to Gill and me

Gill and I intend to stand down after 3 years in post. However, we intend to continue to assist the Club both on and off the water.I intend to finish some admin projects. For example:Towing Guidelines; Club Rules; 5 Year Plan (with assistance).
