As a manager, it is extremely important that you invest time in ensuring that a full and effective induction is conducted for new employees. This will not only to assist with the employee’s probation period, but also help them to settle-in. Experience tells us that staff who receive a good induction are more likely to stay and go on to thrive at DMU.
This guidance highlights the key areas for you to prepare before (marked with an *) your new employee starts, and then to cover aspects within the first four weeks of their employment.
Please complete this form electronically, and after completion, keep a copy locally; HR does not require a copy of this document.
The key areas below will provide your employee with the base knowledge and understanding of their role, the university and the benefits we have to offer, this in turn will help your employee to feel part of DMU.
As part of your local induction, it is expected that as a manager, you will provide further details about the faculty or directorate that you work in, its structure and function, along with the employee’s roles and responsibilities.
