The Delhi Medical Council through its Executive Committee examined a complaint of Shri Vasujit Kalia,,B-312, Panchvati Apartments, Vikas Puri, New Delhi, alleging medical negligence on the part of Dr. Rakesh Chugh, Dr. Amit Singhal, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar and Dr. Mohit Luthra of Sri Balaji ActionMedical Institute, in the treatment administered to the complainant’s mother late Smt. Usha Kalia at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute, A-4, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi, resulting in her death on 14.11.2014.

The Order of the Executive Committee dated 14th March, 2017 is reproduced herein-below:

The Executive Committee of the Delhi Medical Council examined a complaint of Shri Vasujit Kalia, B-312, Panchvati Apartments, Vikas Puri, New Delhi (Referred hereinafter as the complainant), alleging medical negligence on the part of Dr. Rakesh Chugh, Dr. Amit Singhal, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar and Dr. Mohit Luthra of Shri Balaji ActionMedical Institute, in the treatment administered to the complainant’s mother late Smt. Usha Kalia at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute (referred hereinafter as the said Hospital), A-4, Paschim Vihar, New Delhi, resulting in her death on 14.11.2014.

The Executive Committee perused the complaint, written statement of Medical Superintendent of Sri Balaj Action Medical Institute, enclosing therewith joint written statement of Dr. Amar Singhal, Consultant, Department of Cardiologist, Dr. Rakesh Chugh, Consultant, Department of CTVS, Dr.Mohit Luthra, Consultant, Department of Cardiology and copy of medical records of Sri Balaji Action Institute.

The Executive Committee notes that the patient Smt. Usha Kalia was having Coronary Artery Disease with Triple Vessel Disease with several LV dysfunction and severe MR with unstable angina which warranted the surgical procedure of CABG. High risk consent for the same is present in case sheet. The treatment and management of the disease and its complications weredealt as per accepted professional practices in such cases.

In view of the observation made hereinabove, it is, therefore, the decision of the Executive Committee that primafacie no case of medical negligence is made out on the part Dr. Rakesh Chugh, Dr. Amit Singhal, Dr. Mithilesh Kumar and Dr. Mohit Luthra of Shri Balaji ActionMedical Institute, in the treatment administered to the complainant’s mother late Smt. Usha Kalia at Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute.

Complaint stands disposed.
