DJ JEN JEN Biography

JENJEN has been a DJ for 12 years, breaking out at free parties, and going on to play as resident at clubs such as the U.F.O. (Carl Cox’s favourite!), Bristol Exposure, RuffneckTing (Bristol), Enzos (Salisbury), BIG LOVE, Sunnyside and with the Liberator crew at Londons underground parties. She was resident at Radical Rehousing in Amsterdam for 2 years, and played The Mazzo (Amsterdams finest), and at Neksus in Montreal, Canada in 1994. She has also played Ibiza, France, Tunisia, San Francisco, Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle (1996 and 1998). She has played live on Montreal TV and also on Yeovil District radio, Galaxy radio and Passion FM in Bristol, along with other pirate radio shows. She spins all styles, including hiphop, old skool, breakbeat, techno and drum and bass. More recently, she plays a live mash-up of breaks, jungle, jungle tech and techno, with live vocals.

She won the Helter Skelter DJ competition in Oct 97, and featured in Dream magazine as DJ of the month in Sept 97. As a trancecore and Old Skool DJ, she played Hardcore Heaven, Labyrinth (London), Asylum (Manchester), Helter Skelter, Rezurrection (Scotland), 414 club (Brixton) and GBH (Pawlett Manor). She turned down an offer to play at Dreamscape, as she was flown to Seattle, in the summer of ‘98, where she gigged with Grandmaster Flash, and other top name DJ’s from the west coast of Canada and America. Recent gigs have been Absolute Old Skool in Bristol, Education 5th Birthday, Brixton, PirateTV at the Dogstar in London, Delerium in Plymouth.

DJ’s she has played out with include the Freestylers, Scratch Perverts, Nigel Benn, Bunjy, Full Cycle DJ’s, Nicky Blackmarket; Sy, Producer, Sister Bliss, Daddy G and Nick Warren.

She worked at Full Cycle records for 2 years, for Roni Size and Reprazent. She is a qualified sound engineer, a songwriter and guitarist, and she writes and produce her own tracks. She is currently working on her debut solo album, a heady haze of heavy electronic beats/acoustic guitar and vocal tracks. She can also be found performing a live mash-up set of beats n breaks with live vocals, at various venues in the SW and London.

She runs an Internet Radio show, hosted by www.piratetv.net, every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month, playing all styles, and featuring local bands and DJs. She will also be a featured DJ on Bristols' newly launched Radio Trinity @ www.3ca.org.uk
