Accessing State Assessment in COMPASS

State Assessments

  1. If necessary, log onto Novell.
  2. Open Internet Explorer.
  3. On your campus jump page, click on COMPASS – Region VII link.
    This site is also linked from the district website. . Select from the menu—Inside LISDDepartmentsCurriculum and Instruction. On the C&I webpage, scroll down and find the link on the left hand side of the page.
  1. You will need to logon to the Internet since you are accessing a server outside of LISD.
  2. Log on to COMPASS. Username for most staff is first initial last name all lowercase and no space. Password is last name with the last 4 digits of your social security number.
    EX. Cynthia Hoefer would login in as Username: choefer Password: hoefer3154
    NOTE: There are login exceptions. Contact Patricia Cole if you have login problems!
  1. ClickState Assessment.
  2. Click Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills title or “Click here” link to see the Summary page of your students TAKS data.
  1. For individual student information and data, you can click the social security number. Use the tabs at the top to sort TAKS data.
  1. Use the Back button to return to the summary page if necessary.
  2. Click on the Reports link located in the upper right corner on the summary page.
  3. Click Student/Teacher Packet.
  4. Make selections—test, grade level, testing date, scope by course or students, actual course(s) or student(s), and the report(s) desired. It is helpful to select different settings to see how the data is presented. The selections generate reports differently. You must “drill down” your choices or you will get an error! This means one choice at a time and in order. Do not skip a choice.
  5. Click Show reports link at the bottom of the screen (may need to scroll down).
  6. You can use the back button on the browser to change reports as long as you use the “drill down process.” It may be necessary to click the reports link at the top right corner if you are changing from course to students or your reports do not seem to generate correctly.
  1. A search link is provided to give additional searching capabilities of the data. (See Searching COMPASS student data.)
  1. The summary link takes you back to your summary page. You can click on the Compass tab in the upper right corner to select another component of COMPASS. The Compass tab does not work from all screens at this time.
