The President and members of the host club, Y’s Men’s Club of Kannamaly welcome all Y’s families in the District to participate in the “PONNONA SANGAMAM” District Onam Celebration- 2012 scheduled to be held at YMC Kannamaly Club House (Near Puthenthodu Bridge on 1st September 2012.

As usual, competitions will be held for Pookkalam, Onappattu and Painting (for Lings below 10 years). Apart from best traditionally dressed Y’s Man, Y’s Menette, Y’s Ling, Y’s Couple, Y’s Family and other surprise prizes are also awaiting.

RD Elect Ym P.Vijayakumar has kindly consented to be our Chief Guest and will inaugurate the “PONNONA SANGAMAM”, cultural programmes and distribute the prizes.

Hospitality charges @ Rs.200/- per family should be collected by the Secretaries/Presidents as per their respective club membership in the roster dated 31st July 2012(compulsory). They are also requested to send the hospitality charges, list of participants and number of your members who will attend the celebrations before 20th August 2012. There will be no spot registration for any competitions.

Painting for Lings up to 10 years of age 09.00—10.00 am

Inauguration of Onam Celebrations 10.15 am

Visit of Mahabali 10.45—10.50 am

Onappattu competitions start 11.00 am

Onam Sadhya 12.45 pm

Prize Distribution and close of celebrations 2.30 pm

Rules and Regulations for the Competitions

1) Onam Pookkalam

Only traditional Pookkalam with natural flowers & leaves will be permitted. Other materials like sand, nilavilakku or other artificial materials are also not allowed. Prepared drawings/sketches are not allowed in the hall. Drawing materials such as chalk, threads etc are allowed inside the hall. All the material needed should be brought before the start of the competition. Pookkalam has to be arranged in the 1 meter square provided. Only one team of Five (5) members from each club consisting of Y's Men, Y's Menettes and Youth/lings are allowed to participate in the competitions. Representation from all the three groups should be ensured. No substitutions among the team members and bringing materials from outside will be allowed once the competition starts. If any of the above said conditions are violated or not complied with, such teams will be disqualified.

2) Onappattu

Only one team from a club consisting of Seven (7) members representing Y's Men, Y's Menettes and Lings will be permitted. The duration of the song shall not exceed Seven (7) minutes and no instruments of any sort will be allowed. Film songs are not entertained.

3) Painting

Competition is held for Y's lings below 10 years of age. Any number of lings from clubs can participate in this. Participants are free to use any media of drawing material, instruments of their choice, which should be brought by them. Drawing paper and the Theme of painting will be given by the officials at spot. Participants should bring a certificate from their Y’s Men’s Club President showing the age and class in which they are studying.

4) Other Honors

Best dressed Y's Man  Y's Menette  Y's Ling  Y's Couple  Y's Family who are in traditional Kerala style will be chosen. The assessment shall be done by a team of judges, and the selected will be honoured by the District during the celebrations.

The Decisions of the Judges will be final and binding to all.
