1.   Product Cost Data: Submit cost of products to verify compliance with project sustainable design requirements. Exclude cost of labor and equipment to install products. Provide cost data for the following products:

a.   Products with recycled material content.

1.5   QUALITY ASSURANCE

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER **Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.

A.   Single Source Responsibility: Obtain Bumper Bead and Bumper Guard from the same manufacturer.

B.   Mock-Up: Provide completely assembled mock-up of each typical wall area, in composite configurations designed to demonstrate performance criteria, and representative of the design as shown on the Drawings.

1.   Locate mock-up in location as directed by the Architect, minimum size 3 feet (1 meter) by full height, including at least one corner where applicable.

2.   Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship is approved by Architect.

3.   Remove and reinstall mock-up until approved by the Architect.

4.   Approved mock-up may remain as part of finished work and shall establish the standard for remaining work.

1.6   DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A.   Deliver, store and handle materials and products in strict compliance with manufacturer's instructions and recommendations and industry standards.

1.   Store in covered area away from direct sunlight.

2.   Stack boxes containing trim members flat to prevent sagging.

B.   Store materials in manufacturer's original sealed, labeled packaging until ready for installation and in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Protect from damage.

1.7   PROJECT CONDITIONS

A.   Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.

1.8   WARRANTY

A.   Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form against defects in material and workmanship.

1.   Warranty Period: One year from date of Substantial Completion.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.1   MANUFACTURERS

B.   Substitutions: Not permitted.

C.   Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01 60 00 - Product Requirements.

2.2   TRIM MEMBERS

A.   Basis of Design: Bumper Bead and Bumper Guard, flush fitting vinyl trim for floor to ceiling high impact corner protection as manufactured by Trim-Tex Inc.; including accessories and joint treatments.

1.   Location of Manufacture: Lincolnwood IL.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER **Retain following for LEED Projects. Trim-Tex products are manufactured with more than 50 percent post-industrial recycled products. 80 percent of their raw materials are gathered from within 500 miles of plant.

2.   Recycled Content: Furnish materials with at least 50 percent recycled content.

B.   Performance Requirements:

1.   Self-Extinguishing: Shall not continue to support combustion when flame source is removed.

2.   Impervious to rust, galvanic corrosion, electrolysis and resistant to most chemicals.

3.   Bumper Bead: Meet or exceed the following additional specifications:

a.   ASTM E84 - Achieve Class A rating for Smoke and Flame Spread.

b.   ASTM C 1047 - Standard Specification for Accessories for Gypsum Wallboard.

c.   ASTM C 1784 - Standard Specification for Rigid Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Compounds and Chlorinated Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (CPCV) Compounds.

d.   ASTM D 3678 - Standard Specification for Rigid Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Interior-Profile Extrusions.

4.   Bumper Guard: Meet or exceed the following additional specifications:

a.   Color Consistency: In accordance with SAE J-1545 (Delta E) with a color difference no greater than 1.0 units using CIE Lab, CIE CMC, CIE LCh, Hunter Lab or similar commercial color space scale system.

2.3   BUMPER BEAD SYSTEM

A.   Bumper Bead - Rigid Vinyl: As manufactured by Trim-Tex Inc.

1.   90 degree Bumper Bead.

2.   135 degree Bumper Bead.

B.   Bumper Guard - Semi Rigid Vinyl: As manufactured by Trim-Tex Inc.

1.   90 degree Bumper Bead.

2.   135 degree Bumper Bead.

C.   Color:

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER **Select custom or painted. Delete option not required, or keep both if not known.

1.   White; for corners that will be field painted.

2.   Custom color, as selected by Architect.

2.4   ACCESSORlES

A.   Drywall Compound Adhesion Additive: Mud Max.

B.   Caulk: Bondaflex 700.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1   EXAMINATION AND PREPARATION

A.   Prepare substrates using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving best result for the substrates under project conditions. Verify site conditions are ready to receive work.

B.   Do not proceed with installation until substrates have been prepared using the methods recommended by the manufacturer and deviations from manufacturer's recommended tolerances are corrected. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.

C.   If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations from manufacturer's recommended installation tolerances and conditions.

3.2   INSTALLATION

A.   Vinyl Trim Installation: Install vinyl trim members in accordance with manufacture's written instructions and comply with the following:

1.   ASTM C 754.

2.   ASTM C 840.

3.   GA-214.

4.   GA-216.

5.   GA-600.

B.   Bumper Bead Installation:

1.   Ensure drywall corners have a clean cut and drywall sheet does not extend past adjacent sheet.

2.   Unpack bead and cut to length.

3.   Install Bumper Bead with drywall compound. Add Mud Max to the setting coat and fill coat.

4.   Bumper Bead can be installed with the following methods.

a.   Corner Bead Hopper.

b.   Drywall compound head with compound tube.

c.   Hand blade drywall compound.

5.   Finish with drywall compound and sand. Be sure to keep attachment surface for Bumper Guard free of drywall compound.

C.   Bumper Guard Installation:

1.   Be sure attachment surface is clean and dust free.

2.   Cut Bumper Guard to length. Bumper Guard is designed to be installed in the full length of the Bumper Bead.

3.   Apply a 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) bead of Bondaflex 700 Caulk along the inside of the Bumper Guard.

4.   Press Bumper Guard into place ensuring the guard is straight.

5.   Paint Bumper Guard.

3.3   PROTECTION

A.   Protect installed products until completion of project.

B.   Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
