Activities:
1. Read Act 2 of “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street”, assigning students speaking roles.
2. Watch “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” and fill in conflict T chart.
  • Discuss how the conflict of the story can move the plot forward.
  • Create a T chart of internal and external conflicts in the story and have students fill in conflicts while watching the episode.

Computer Lab: Students will work on a Discovery Education Board relating The Twilight Zone episodes to McCarthyism and life in the 1950s. Activities will include web quests, historical comparisons, video clips, writing practice, historical images, and research.

  • Sentence Fluency: Crafting Well-Built Sentences
