Discovery Canyon Campus 6-8 Open House Guide (2014-2015 School Year)
Station / Description / DCC Location / Tasks to Complete Prior to the Open HouseRead Student / Parent Handbook, Update Household Information, & Complete Student Agreements / Prior to attending the Open House, electronically read the student / parent handbook, update household information, and complete the applicable online student agreements. / None /
- Link to the IC Extended Parent Portal and follow these instructions.
- Log in with your user name and password.
- Click on your student’s name.
- If you have not done so, read the DCC Grades 6-8 Student / Parent Handbook and electronically acknowledge reading it.
- You may be prompted to enter race/ethnicity information. Once you have completed this, click on the Emergency Contacts, Physician, and Health tabs; review the information; and type and save any necessary changes.
- Click on the Documents/Agreements tab to review and mark whether or not you agree with a variety of agreements.
- Click on the Transportation tabs and review applicable information.
- Once you have completed the above steps, you may log out of the system.

Missing PE Uniforms from 13-14School Year / Attention current 7th and 8th grade families. If your student is missing his/her PE uniform from last school year, visit this station to check if it has been found. Finding last year’s uniform may eliminate the need to purchase a new uniform for the 14-15 school year! / Middle Level Gym /
- No preparation is required.
- Note - New PE uniforms are NOT available for purchase during Open House. PE teachers will provide students with information for purchasing uniforms during the first week of school.
Computer Lab / Visit this station if you have not electronically read the student / parent handbook, updated household information, and completed the online District Twenty student agreements. Also visit this station if you need assistance accessing and printing your student’s schedule. / Middle Level

4. Click on the name of the student whose schedule you are accessing.
5. Click on Reports on the left.
6. Click on 2014-2015 1st Semester Schedule.
7. The schedule may be printed from this screen.

Health / Visit this station if you need to submit health forms and/or drop off medication for your student. / Lower Campus Cafetorium

- Read about Medications Administered at Elementary and Middle Levels.
- If your student has health concerns or needs, print out the proper health care forms. Health care forms may be found online at the bottom of this District Twenty webpage and the top of this District Twenty webpage.
- Fill out the necessary health form(s). Please note that some forms require a Physician’s signature.
- Bring the completed health form(s) to the Open House.
- If applicable, bring medications that need to be left at school, with the completed form.
Athletics / Visit this station if you would like to submit completed registration packets for 6th Grade Intramural Basketball or middle level interscholastic Softball, Cross Country, or Football. / Lower Campus Cafetorium /
- Print out the athletic registration packet for Softball, Cross Country, Football, or 6th Grade Intramural Basketball.
- Fill out the registration packet and bring it to the Open House.
- When submitting the completed registration packet, include either: (1) a printed receipt showing payment made in the PayForIt system (please note that there is a 2.5% convenience fee for using PayForIt), (2) acheck made out to DCC - student’s name and grade written on the check memo line, OR (3) cash. Lunch / Visit this station to place money in your student’s lunch account. / Lower Campus Cafetorium

- Deposits to lunch accounts may be made online or in person.
- Online lunch deposits are made through the PayForIt system (please note that there is a 2.5% convenience fee for using PayForIt.)

- To deposit money in a lunch account in person, you may either use cash or a check made out to DCC - student’s name and grade written on the check memo line.
- The 14-15 cost for a middle school lunch is $2.40. Middle school students are also able to purchase a variety of a la carte items that vary in price. Click here forgeneral information regarding the lunch program in District Twenty.
Student Accounts and Fees / Prior to attending the Open House, please review your student’s account balances. / Lower Campus Cafetorium /

- Click on the Feesbutton on the left.
- For any fees that have an outstanding balance, please either pay the fee: (1) online in the PayForIt system(please note that there is a 2.5% convenience fee for using PayForIt), (2) using a check made out to DCC - student’s name and grade written on the check memo line, OR (3) using cash. Check or cash may be turned in during the Open House at the Business Services table located in the Cafetorium.
- Outside of the Open House, any questions regarding student accounts may be referred to Ms. Regina Kucharski (DCC Bookkeeper) by calling 234-1852.
Boosters / Visit this station for information on how to get involved with DCC Middle School Boosters. / Lower Campus Cafetorium /

Parent Involvement Information / Visit this station to learn about various DCC events and volunteer opportunities and to drop off your Parent Involvement Form. / Lower Campus

- Fill out the form, bring it to the Open House, and drop it off at this station.
Drop Off Community School Supplies / Visit this station to drop off community school supplies. / Middle Level

- Click here to view the school supply list. Please note that supplies for discovery classes are listed on the last three pages of the school supply list document.
- If dropping off community school supplies, please place the supplies in a bag or box and label it with your student’s name, grade, and team number.
- If students prefer, they may wait to bring their community school supplies to school after the start of the school year.
- Students should carry their individual school supplies with them on a daily basis in their backpacks.

New to the Middle Level
