Background

FHI 360 and its consortium of partners are seeing qualified researchers to join their research teams under the DFID Disability Inclusive Development – Research Component. The program will carry out randomized controlled trials (RCT) in 3-5 countries over the course of 5-6 years, seeking to measure the impact of interventions intended to improve development outcomes for children and youth with disabilities. Expected research will be examining education, health, employment, and livelihoods opportunities and outcomes. Indicative countries include: Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda. Note: the consultancy is conditional on award; FHI 360 is currently in proposal development stage.

Period of Performance: July 2018 – December 2023

Scope of Work

-Support or lead the design, implementation, and analysis of RCT and supporting systems research on disability inclusive development;

-As needed, coordinate data collection, training, capacity building, or dissemination activities in country;

-Contribute writing of journal articles and other outputs resulting from the research, working collaboratively with other researchers;

-Participate in meetings, seminars, webinars, and workshops to disseminate and strengthen global advocacy based on research findings, in accordance with program design and workplan.

Qualifications

-Strong knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, RCT experience desirable;

-Experience and knowledge of disability inclusive development key issues and concepts;

-At least 5-7 years of experience in research;

-Strong contextual knowledge of the target countries;

-A track record of publications or research products using rigorous methods;

-Experience managing data collection in the field strongly desirable;

-Must be a resident national of the target countries; regional candidates are welcome to apply if can demonstrate deep knowledge of the context.
