Description:
Join us in preparing personal care packages that will be distributed at Department of Veterans Affairs’ Stand Down events throughout Florida. Stand Downs provide services to homeless Veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services. This service project is supported by the Florida AmeriCorps program through the Governor's Commission on Volunteerism & Community Service - Volunteer Florida. It will provide conference attendees an opportunity to make a contribution to the local community and to learn more about service as a road to employment for people with disabilities.
Immediately afterwards, there will be screenings of the Campaign for Disability Employment (CDE) PSA, the USBLN®PSA and the main feature movie, Lives Worth Living.This film is an oral history of the disability rights movement as told by the pioneers who fought tirelessly for decades for equal rights, access, and opportunities.

Alliance Mentoring Program
Description:
The Alliance Mentoring Program is a collaborative pilot project between the US Business Leadership Network® (USBLN®), the Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) and the Employer Assistance and Resource Network (EARN). The program aims to provide career mentoring opportunities to college/university students and recent graduates with disabilities through linkages to business professionals. Mentors from companies such as Bender Consulting, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, Highmark, Microsoft, Northrop Grumman and WellPoint, are matched up with students and recent graduates from the Workforce Recruitment Program. In addition to an overview of the program, this session will also feature participants who will share their experiences.

Use this session to understand, select and benefit from top marketing tools available today and learn more about how to get organizations to help you in your marketing efforts. It’s a competitive world and supply chain leaders are looking for suppliers who can add value and articulate that value convincingly. How do you differ from your competitors? How do you progress from that initial meeting with a corporate or government representative to knowing the person who is developing a bidders list for an upcoming requirement? What are your capabilities and how closely do they align with the needs of your potential client? How can the Disability Supplier Diversity Program® (DSDP) help you? The Value of Certification – Making Certification Work for You

The need for and value of certification is often questioned by the very groups it is intended to support. By certifying as a disability entrepreneur (includes service-disabled veteran) woman, or LGBT owned firm, businesses are able to address concerns of qualifiers and business legitimacy and concentrate their efforts on discussing their business capabilities and proven performance with corporate decision-makers. Three nationally recognized third-party certifying organizations will explain. This session will explain 1) the certification process including required documentation; and, 2) how to use certification as a tool in your marketing arsenal and the benefit of multiple certifications.
