GeneralGuidelinesto fill up the applicationformfor the Registration of privateresearch varieties

(1)The process of registrationis prevailing in the research varieties of private companies for four crops viz. Cotton, Castor, Maize and Bajra.

(2)From Kharif-07 onwards, distribution of seeds of only notified / registered varieties of Cotton, Castor, Maize and Bajrawillbe permitted.

(3)The varieties which are not notified, hastoberegistered with this Directorate. Usually registrationwill bevalidfor 5 years. For registration, an application is to be made in prescribedPerforma, to the Director of Agriculture, Gujarat State, Krishi Bhavan, Gandhinagar. The application must be submitted to this directorate as per following schedule in respective year.

(4)At the time of application, the company has tosubmit anoriginalchalanfor application feepaid in Govt. treasury Rs.7500/- pervariety and prescribedindemnitybond on non judicialstamp paper of Rs.100/- along with application form.

(5)Beforeexpiryof registrationperiod, the company has toapply for renewal of registration in prescribed period. Otherwise registration will be cancelled automatically. The renewal fee would be Rs 5000/- per variety. The company may renew the registration of variety up to three months form expiry of registration by paying late fee of Rs 500/- per variety.

(6)Documents necessary for Research farm along with the application form.

  • ProduceR&Dcertificatefrom the Department of Science & Technology, GOI, in case of researchfarm has R&D facility out of Gujarat.
  • If company has its ownresearchfarm in the State,produce7/12 8/Apapers of land.
  • Produceleasecontract in case of farm is taken on rent.

(7)Produce colored photographs of flowering & grainfillingstage of the variety to be registered. ( If photographs are not available in 2006-07, they can be produced later )

(8)The Breeder’s presence is must at the time of visit of Registration Committee.

(9)The performancetrial must have minimumthree replications with check variety along with the male & female of that researchvarietyin the field.
