Job title:Learning Facilitator (Casual)

Grade:YMT SC1, point 10, £7.966 per hour/YMT point 22, £11.296 per
hour
Main Purpose of the Job:
To deliver high quality formal and informal learning sessions across all York Museums Trust sites on an as and when required basis.

Core Responsibilities
Delivery of Activities
Undertake all necessary preparation for Learning Activities including setting up the activities and ensuring appropriate materials are available.
Delivery of activities and sessions as directed by the Assistant Curators of Learning and/or the Learning Manager, ensuring a full knowledge and understanding of the subject material as per the session notes and training.
Manage the timing of sessions to ensure completion within allocated timescale.
Explain activities and educational content in terms appropriate to audience.
Willingness to deliver sessions related to a variety of curriculum subject areas
Work across all YMT sites as and when required.
Health & Safety
Supervise the use of premises and equipment being used during sessions in line with Health & Safety policy and practice.
Monitor handling of objects and resources for wear and tear.
Supervise groups when using the galleries and exhibition spaces.
Development of Service
Assist with routine evaluation of learning programme, through formal and informal methodologies.
Liaise with the Assistant Curators of Learning to develop new education resources.
Assist with the training of other Casual Learning Facilitators to deliver formal Learning Sessions.
Other
Promote York Museums Trust’s programme of Lifelong Learning to appropriate audiences
Act as a point of contact for school groups, keep informed on latest programmes, sessions and events and to promote these as appropriate.
Undertake any reasonable duties as are requested from time to time commensurate with your grade. / Key Results
Delivery of Activities
High-quality delivery and facilitation of sessions to school groups, ensuring timings and content are maintained at a level appropriate to the groups needs.
Content of activity or session is as agreed.
Sessions delivered within allocated time.
Audience understands and enjoys the learning experience
Delivery of learning activities using a variety of interpretive methods including historical character roles and where appropriate. Accurate and thorough knowledge of the relevant workshop content is essential.

Session activities and resources demonstrated and explained appropriately to ensure levels of risk to participants, staff and visitors is kept at a minimum
Inspect and report to the appropriate person on the condition of resources and objects
Development of Service
All appropriate evaluation fully carried out.
New learning resources developed in collaboration
Training delivered and received as and when required

Assisting with teacher previews and learning showcases
Attend YMT team meetings each term

The post holder will be subject to an enhanced check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Terms and Conditions

Reporting line

This post reports to the Learning Manager.

Salary

The salary for the post is £7.966 per hour (training rate) and £11.29 (teaching rate) and is subject to annual review.

Probationary period

Appointments are subject to the successful completion of a six month probationary period.

Annual leave

As a casual employee you are not entitled to receive paid annual leave.However, to compensate you, you will receive 9.04% of your hourly ratefor every hour you work, which will be awarded to you in your pay at quarterly intervals.

Hours of work

Your hours of work are those determined by the needs of the Trust. The Trust is not obliged to offer you work. You are not obliged to accept work offered by the Trust.

Pension Scheme

You will be enrolled into the North Yorkshire Pension Fund on the first day of employment where your contract is of 3 months duration or more. If you wish to opt out of the pension scheme, you can do so by contacting

Period of Notice.

The period of written notice required for you to terminate this post is 1 week. The Trust will give you 1 week’s written notice.
