Purpose. Understanding light, exposure, and focus are key factors to becoming a creative photographer. This practical, hands-on workshop not only helps you gain some mastery over exposure and focus, but also opens the doors to more creative expression. This workshop is designed especially for beginning SLR digital photographers.

Content. You'll learn how to use the three elements of exposure--ISO, aperture, and shutter speed--to become a more creative photographer. You'll learn how to control depth-of-field; how to freeze or blur action; how to use fill-flash; how the pros get tack-sharp images; how to evaluate exposure via the histogram; and how to work with difficult lighting situations, including exposure compensation, auto-exposure bracketing, and high-dynamic range imaging (HDR). Plus, some fun field exercises.

Details. Bring your digital SLR camera and manual. The workshop is illustrated with the Canon Rebel XTi. The instructor is also familiar with the Nikon D3100. It is highly recommended that you read your manual before attending the workshop.
