Dear Friends,

] Did you realize foster care ends at age 18? Over 25,000 teens exit the foster care system each year and become homeless. It is a growing epidemic that must be treated aggressively.

THE TEEN PROJECT evolved from one woman, Lauri Burns, who dedicates her life to helping these teens who age out of the foster care system and have nowhere to go. THE TEEN PROJECT provides them with the resources and support of a family unit. This includes safe housing, financial support towards a higher education, counseling, and mentoring on how to lead a productive, happy and healthy life.

To address the magnitude of the problem, THE TEEN PROJECT provides several opportunities for at risk teens such as The PAD Database, Teen Project Shelter Collaboration, The Meeting Places Program, The TEXT Shelter service, The National Mentoring Program and most recently, FreeHAB. THE TEEN PROJECT protocol seeks to address the devastating issue of homeless teens on all levels.

THE TEEN PROJECT receives no federal or state funding. With over 400 volunteers and only one full time employee, donations go directly to services for those in need with minimal administrative costs.

How can you assist? THE TEEN PROJECT is completely supported by private donations from individuals and foundations that care about these forgotten teenagers. Locally, THE TEEN PROJECT OC Chapter, works together to change the lives of these emancipated and disregarded foster children of Orange County. Please join us and support THE TEEN PROJECT’S 2nd Annual Fashion Show Benefit on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm at the Westin South Coast Plaza to raise funds for this much needed program.

The event features a Teen Fashion Show sponsored by South Coast Plaza, and special guest appearance from Lauri Burns, founder of THE TEEN PROJECT and author of Punished for Purpose. You will also hear from one of the teenage girls who has benefitted from THE TEEN PROJECT programs. Last year, we were able to generate over $85,000 and we hope to meet and surpass our goal again with your generosity.

We hope you will consider making a donation to help underwrite our event at any level to help us raise the much-needed funds on behalf of THE TEEN PROJECT, because every girl should have the opportunity to shine!

Thank you for your support,

The Teen Project – OC Chapter
