REVIEW AND APPROVE MINUTES:

·  MOTION by Vicky Sue Baron to approve the minutes from the December 6 meeting.

·  Second by Pat Beaulieu.

·  All in favour.

HOCKEY ALBERTA MEETING UPDATE – REGISTRATION DEFICIENCIES

·  Pat, Jeff and Victor attended the Hockey Alberta meeting last Thursday and were told that all of our teams except one had deficiencies in regards to player registrations which could result in players being listed as ineligible and teams not being approved for further games. They also didn’t have Pat listed as the president for this season.

·  All player information had been entered by the registrars, just not in the exact format required. All teams but 1 have now been approved and the last team should be approved by the weekend. Players that are not registered properly are not covered by insurance.

·  DMHA also had an overage player registered as Novice in error. The situation has been dealt with and both Hockey Alberta and 16/60 will allow the player to remain at the Novice level.

·  The executive needs to be diligent when fulfilling their duties.

HOCKEY ALBERTA MEETING UPDATE – OTHER HIGHLIGHTS:

·  AAA players are automatically released back to their resident LMHA at the end of the hockey season. AA players are not. Hockey Alberta is looking into changing this rule for AA players and they could be treated the same as AAA players by next season.

·  The next Hockey Alberta meeting will be the Annual General Meeting on June 10, 11 and 12.

·  Fees will increase next year by $3/player.

·  Hockey Alberta still has coach clinics available.

·  DMHA has 5 teams registered for provincials – all 3 PeeWee teams, Bantam Rep and Atom Rep.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

·  ATCO TRAILERS – have to be returned at the end of the month in good condition. Pat has volunteered to patch the drywall holes and would like some help.

·  COACHING CERTIFICATION – It is a DMHA rule that all coaches must have proper certification by December 31. There are at least 4 coaches who have not complied with this rule. Two had registered for a clinic in December, but it was cancelled. MOTION by Pat Beaulieu that for the 2010/11 season only the deadline to register in and complete the required certification courses be extended. Coaches may remain on the bench only if they meet these conditions. Second by Doug Cox. Motion carried. Colleen will e-mail this ruling to the Coaches Coordinator and all Level Coordinators for them to pass on to their coaches.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Jeff Upton (Vice President):

·  The new dressing rooms look great. They are bigger and have a nice shower area. The referee’s room is also complete.

·  Has heard lots of rumours from Dave Schaeffer, but nothing has been confirmed.

·  Is it possible for Novice to use practice ice for a game? As long as it doesn’t disrupt anyone else’s ice time.

·  Is the concession making money? Yes, it is making some money.

·  Fencing will be moved around to make some parking available by the pool.

Victor Wearden (Past President): Nothing to report

Jackie Preece (Treasurer):

·  Will have everything ready to present at the next town council meeting (January 24).

·  Getting the family fees sheets completed.

·  Balances as of January 11, 2011 were given. We are using some of the money raised through the Oilers 50/50 to cover ice costs.

·  The Novice A team gets ice every third Thursday in Calmar. They have been offered ice in Spruce Grove on the same night for $125. If DMHA will cover the $81 (cost of ice in Calmar) the team will pay the difference and won’t need the Calmar ice as of the last week of January.

Colleen Chorzempa (Secretary): Nothing to report

Devin Scherger (Coaches Coordinator): Not present

Trish Rizko (Registrar / Midget Coordinator): Nothing to report

Lisa Berthiaume (Co-Registrar):

·  Some of her team’s jerseys are already in bad shape. Scott White has been trying to get in touch with the company that we purchased them from, but hasn’t heard back from them.

Lori Uhryn (Referee-in-Chief): Not present

Doug Cox (Level Director): Nothing to report

Vicci Letourneau (IP Coordinator):

·  Can teams have a parents vs. kids game? Yes, but they must book the ice through Linda. Parents must wear helmets.

Tammy Huber (Novice Coordinator): Nothing to report

Linda Herczeg (Atom Coordinator / Ice Coordinator):

·  A reminder that trying to book games during the weekday practice ice can potentially cause problems as most levels do not have enough time for a game in a practice ice slot.

·  Do we continue renting ice in Calmar in February? MOTION by Vicky Sue Baron that DMHA continue to rent the ice in Calmar for the month of February. Second by Pat Beaulieu. Motion carried.

Tyson (Shanley) Foerster (PeeWee Coordinator): Nothing to report

Gail Cunningham (Bantam Coordinator):

·  Who is responsible for making sure coaches have proper certification? The Coaches Coordinator, Devin Scherger.

Vicky Sue Baron (Referee Assignor):

·  We have 20 referees. Of these only 2 are senior referees so Vicky needs to know about provincial games as soon as possible.

Sandra Pelkey (Fundraising):

·  Each team needs to give either $100 or a prize worth $100 for the Hockey dance.

Garry LaBine (16-60 Rep): Nothing to report

Sherry Heigh (Kitchen Coordinator):

·  Level coordinators need to get the word out to the team managers that parents need to sign up for their concession shift.

Scott White (Equipment Manager):

·  The Tim Hortons jerseys are in. Scott needs the DMHA jerseys back from these teams.

MEETING ADJOURNED AT 9:22 PM

·  MOTION by Doug Cox

·  Second by Garry LaBine

·  All in favour.

NEXT MEETING TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2011 @ 7:00 PM IN THE MEETING ROOM.
