Development Technologist

Job Description

Context

  • Graduate role with a Food science, technology or an associated discipline background. Based at the Development and innovation Centre, Worksop, Notts. S81 7AY.

Responsibilities

  • To support technical product development for the related product area as directed by the line manager and in conformance to the approved project brief.
  • To ensureboth recipes and manufacturing procedures conform to the corporate;food safety, legal, nutrition, ingredient and food ethic’s technical policies.
  • To ensure that all new recipes conform to the brand food and nutritional footprint in terms of pre-requisite and prohibited ingredients.
  • To develop relationships within the respective development team and across the development function (Product, Packaging and Process development).
  • To develop relationships with other internal functions and external partnersas and when necessary throughout the development process.
  • To ensure direct line manager and immediate functional team are kept up to date on all relevant project issues and feedback.

Accountabilities

  • To develop an understanding of our manufacturing base, their capabilities, systems, and processing parameters.
  • To adopt our Management information systems, as directed by the line manager.
  • To establish and maintain a relationship with the respective manufacturing site Technical and Operation’s team.
  • To develop an understanding of our supplier base, their capabilities and strengthens, for the benefit of both current business and future development initiatives.
  • To work inclusively with the;Legal & Regulatory, Process, Packaging and Sensory development departments, to deliver robust and inclusive technical solutions.
  • To support the productive execution of factory trials, through planned and co-ordinated pre & post production meetings with all relevant stakeholders.
  • To become an integral member of the Saces & Carbs Product Development team, actively communicating with direct line manager and peer group.

Travel

  • The role requires the mobility to participate in both meetings and trials at various manufacturing sites, as directed by the line manager.

  • Good inter-personal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross functional environment
  • Good personal organisation skills – time management.
  • PC Literate in MS Office plus Excel / Lotus systems.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
