DETAILS OF QUALIFICATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

FOR THE POSTS ADVERTISED VIDE ADVERTISEMENT NO. 05 / 2008

QUALIFICATIONS:

A) For the posts under the Departments of (i) Physics, (ii) Chemical Sciences, (iii) Mathematical Sciences, (iv) Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, (v) Environmental Science, (vi) English and Foreign Languages, (vii) Cultural Studies and (viii) Sociology:

Posts / Qualifications
Professor / An eminent scholar in the relevant subject(s) with published work of high quality, actively engaged in research, with 10 (ten) years of experience in postgraduate teaching, and/or experience in research at the University / National Level institutions, including experience of guiding research at doctorate level.
OR
An outstanding scholar with established reputation who has made significant contribution to knowledge.
Reader /
  1. Good academic record with a doctoral degree or equivalent published work in the relevant subject(s)*. In addition to these, candidates who join from outside the university system shall also posses at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E & F at the Master’s degree level.
  2. Five years of experience of teaching and/or research excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degrees and has made some mark in the areas of scholarship as evidenced by quality of publications, contribution to educational innovation, design of new courses and curricula.

Lecturer / Good academic record with at least 55% of the marks or an equivalent grade of B in the 7 point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E & F at the Master’s degree level, in the relevant subject(s)* from an Indian University, or, an equivalent degree from a foreign University.
Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, candidates should have cleared the NET for Lecturers conducted by UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC.
NOTE: NET shall remain the compulsory requirement for appointment as Lecturer for those with post-graduate degree. However, candidates having Ph.D. degree in concerned subject are exempted from NET.

* For the Department of Cultural Studies, the relevant subject(s) for the post of Reader include Cultural Studies / Folklore / Anthropology / Language / Literature and for the post of Lecturer include Cultural Studies / Folklore.

B) For the posts under the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism:

Posts / Qualifications
Professor / An eminent scholar with published work of high quality, actively engaged in research, with 10 (ten) years of experience in postgraduate teaching, and/or research at the University / National Level institution, including experience of guiding research at doctorate level in Communication / Journalism.
Reader / Essential:
  1. Ph.D. degree in Communication / Mass Communication / Journalism from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign university.
OR
Published work of doctoral standard or media production work of excellence.
  1. Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) at Master’s level in the subject.
  2. Eight years experience of teachers and / or research including up to three years for research degree and having made a mark in the area of scholarship as evidence by quality of publications, contribution to education innovation, design of new courses and curricula.
OR
10 (ten) years full time work experience in any area of Mass Communication (News paper accredited with ABC, National News Agencies, radio or television, film media, reputed advertising agencies, Public Relation Officers of the Government, Public Sector Undertakings and established Industrial and Commercial Houses).

C) For the posts under the Departments of (i) Energy, (ii) Mechanical Engineering,
(iii) Electronics and Communication Engineering and (iv) Food Processing Technology

Posts / Qualifications
Professor /
  1. Ph.D. degree with First Class degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the appropriate branch.
  2. 10 (ten) years’ experience in PG Teaching / Industry / Research.
* For candidates from Industry / Profession: Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology and with professional work which is significant and can be recognized as equivalent to Ph.D. degree and with 10 (ten) years experience of which at least 5 (five) years should be at a Senior Level comparable to that of a Reader or equivalent.
Reader /
  1. Ph.D. degree in the appropriate branch of study with First Class at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the appropriate branch.
  2. 3 (three) years’ experience in Teaching / Industry / Research at the level of Lecturer or equivalent after Ph.D. will be preferred.
* For candidates from Industry / Profession: First Class Bachelor’s degree or First Class Master’s degree in the appropriate branch.
And
Professional work, which is significant and can be recognized as equivalent to Ph.D. degree and with 5 (five) years’ experience.
Lecturer / First Class Master’s degree in the appropriate branch.

N.B.Candidates, who applied for the posts of Professor and Readers in Mechanical Engineering and Reader in Electronics and Communication Engineering in response to Advertisement No. 03/2008 of this University, need not apply again. However, they may send their up-dated bio-data, if any.

D) For the posts under the Department of Computer Science & Engineering:

Reader /
  1. Ph.D. degree in appropriate branch of study with First Class degree at Bachelor’s or Master’s level.
  2. 3 (three) years’ experience in Teaching / Industry / Research at the level of Lecturer or equivalent after Ph.D. will be preferred.

E) For the posts under the Department of Business Administration:

Posts / Qualifications
Professor /
  1. Ph.D. degree or a Fellowship of IIMs, ICA or ICWA with First Class Master’s degree in Business Management / Administration / other relevant management related discipline.
  2. 10 (ten) years’ experience in Teaching / Industry / Research out of which 5 (five) years must be at the level of Assistant Professor and/or equivalent.
* For candidates from Industry / Profession: First Class Master’s degree in Business Management / Administration / other management related discipline
And
Professional work which is significant and can be recognized as equivalent to Ph.D. degree and with 10 (ten) years experience of which at least 5 (five) years should be at a Senior Level comparable to that of an Assistant Professor would also be eligible.
Reader /
  1. Ph.D. degree or a Fellowship of IIMs, ICA or ICWA with First Class Master’s degree in Business Management / Administration / other relevant management related discipline.
  2. 3 (three) years’ experience in Teaching / Industry / Research / Profession.
* For candidates from Industry / Profession: First Class Master’s degree in Business Management / Administration / other relevant management related discipline
And
Professional work which is significant and can be recognized at national / international level as equivalent to Ph.D. degree and with 5 (five) years experience in Industry / Profession, would also be eligible.

NOTE (1):NET shall remain the compulsory requirement for appointment as Lecturer for those with post-graduate degree. However, candidates having Ph.D. degree in concerned subject are exempted from NET. NET is not required for the posts at Sl. Nos. 4 & 5.

NOTE (2):Where Class / Division is not awarded at M.E. / M. Tech. / equivalent degree, minimum 60% marks in aggregate shall be considered equivalent to First Class / Division. In case of Grade Point system, CGPA will be converted to equivalent marks as per AICTE guidelines (Table-E6).

NOTE (3): For the posts reserved for SCs / STs / PWDs, the required minimum marks at Master’s Degree for SC/ST/PWD candidates shall be 50% or equivalent grade.

NOTE (4):Grade B in the 7 point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E & F shall be regarded as equivalent of 55% wherever the grading system is followed.
